Can't find oil

I know you have to look underground on arid planets but I cannot find oil anywhere ! I'm quite a bit through the game now and still can't find any for the lantern on a stick that I want :( Any suggestions ?

Tar-biomes, commonly found on desert planet should have all the oil you'll ever need.

Also u can find lantern on a stick in above ground chests I found 2 in like 5 minutes

Adventure around the surface of the desert planets. Eventually, you'll find Tar Biomes. As Jellypuff mentioned,

Oil spawns on Desert planets, not Arid. ther IS a difference. As Jellypuff said, find a Desert Planet with a Tar mini-biome and you'll have all the Oil you'll ever need.
