How "We", the community can help Starbound
1. Stop asking for refunds.
The game is fully funded, so refunds will eat into the development funds. Legally none of us have a right to a refund, Steam or earlier. We "invested" in the game through crowdfundng and cannot and should not attempt to remove original funding, as this will screw up the company finances.

2. Stop reposting that imgur mega-link
A massive screemshot dump of things said in jest, frustration and perhaps tired CF workers. Commuting in and our of London is not stress-free. And some steam was blown off in the heat of the moment in time. Perpetuating this is just not nessecary as nothing in that post is really that bad. Nothing that indicates fraud or dishonety.

3. Have this recemt flux of bad feeling act as a watershed,
Allow CF to address what the issues are going forward. A milestone of sorts, which can go towards a much needed main branch update. To those out of opt-in it looks like there is no additions to the game. Put the last 7 months behind, and look forward. When you are young time goes by slower, but for me 5 months have flown passed.

4. If you like the game, review it!
If you enjoy this game, post a recommended review using steam. I looked and some of the most voal supporters have not reviewed the game. Balance out the negatives. There IS a campaign to upvote negative reviews, but the numbers show that it's 30 people or so. Get 30 fans to upvote positives, In a Democracy this is know as "Getting the message out".

5. Don;t encourage CF to ban as many people from the official forum
The all just come here and post negative comments and reviews, Banning is not the answer for feverent critics, that just inflames the situation further,

I hope some of you read this and maybe repost the link to other places. If we all wait to CF update us on a more realistic rimeframe for some of the games additional features, we can then logoff and wait, or jump in and contnue playing.

I think you're in the wrong place for this kind of talk. Your tone is just begging for people to run in and refute you with fist-like precision. I mean, I'm not going to say any of this is false. I just doubt anyone will agree with it, myself included. Except like... Darklight and the white knight crew. Because this is the kind of tone this has.

Seems kind of like unbridled optimism in a refuge for cynics. They'll keep asking for refunds, posting links to evidence they have regarding CF's slipshod behavior, and giving it whatever review they think is fair.

The thought is nice though, I'll admit, so thanks for that much.

Well, they aren't going to give refunds, so it's not like asking hurts anyone.

But beyond that, this game was funded before it ever hit EA. They could refund 50% of sales and still be fully funded.

Not everyone who develops starbound lives in London. I believe only half of the actual coders do, the rest telecommute. Likely from the USA.

But who cares? If anything, it shows CF how easy it is to organize data. They should take a lesson and have a dedicated news page instead of this roulette of media they tend to use.

There's nothing stopping CF from putting up or shutting up. If they are going to talk the talk, they better start walking.

There is a campaign to upvote negative reviews??? You mean like your attempt, just now, to start a campaign to upvote positive reviews? Yeah, word of mouth is a conspiracy!

I have no idea what this means. Who is encouraging CF to ban people? They don't seem to needt the encouragement.

1. no, not till they provide an answer why.

2. no. i would have never supported the devs had i seen the kinds of thing in that gallary.

3. no. ive given them over half a year. they just keep on with the same old song and dance.

4. unapplicable, do not like the game as it stands.

5. no. untill they learn cause and effect, they will dig their own grave.

overall, nice ideas and gestures, but CF wont even meet us halfway. well, 6 months later they'll try, but by then they have bitten the hand that fed them.
Starbug 22 lipca 2014 o 14:38
I left a negative review, but in the interest of balance it is necessary to get both sides to the table. The same old arguement and counter arguements have been had now.

Unbridled Optimism is what brought the money into CF company accounts, and we all wanted it. No reason time cannot provide realisation of this. Going more Sci-Fi woudl really help.. Melee is kind of superflous in space, so more emphasis should go to Sci-Fi weaponry as core to the experience. Sci-Fi sandbox builder rpg is what got us in the heart and wallet!

Can we all just apreciate how people went from "Evidence plx" to "stop posting your evidence, it's being mean!"

MTV 22 lipca 2014 o 14:42
The vocal minority conspiracy theory is hilarious! 30 people, are you serious? You do know how many people bought this game? 30 people is a drop of water in the ocean. It would take way more than 30 people to rig the reviews.

It's seriously pathetic that knights called critics tinfoil hats... Now YOU are the ones crying conspiracy!

You are using the word conspiracy. It's semantics. At election time there is a "conspiracy" to help elect a candidate, Campaign / Conspiracy. Yes it exists I am a part of it. But balance is important. If they can't muster a counrer campaign, or even post their own positives, so be it.

Starbug 22 lipca 2014 o 14:48
Steam shows most recent reviews as default on my app. That is being manipulated by a small bunch. Source? I am one of them. It's not a conspiracy, I upvote fair reviews. A lof of recent reviews have been fair. To say you can;t "rig" it is not correct. And again "rigging", I call consumer campaign.

Can the defenders not raise a counter revolotion?. Personally I doubt it, but that's more the fault of CF not giving them the ammo or timeframe for gameplay improvements.

I'm not sure how to respond to this. I guess the only thing to say is that if they haven't "balanced" the reviews by now, it's because there is no such "balance".
Starbug 22 lipca 2014 o 15:00
Oh yea, I never thought of that lol.. It just seems that 2500 players onine don't come in here or post reviews.

It;s like the utlity companies on review sites. 95% slating terrible service. You are unhappy you can vent and complain, If you are happt you don;t have much else to say.

On the evidence point, nothing there would hold up enforcing a refund. Only way a refund happens is if the game is removed from steam. Developers have through inexperience and frustration allowed things to be said in firstration and then be screengrabbed to tear them down later. PR own goal, but not indicative of fraud or dishonesty.
MTV 22 lipca 2014 o 15:13
That's not true. Reviews work both ways. I endorse products I enjoy. So do lots of other people.

Reviews aren't stictly for complaining.
xayl 22 lipca 2014 o 15:18
I dont know why CF doesnt give out refunds by themself. They got enough money from Early access and since they somehow claim only a minority is unhappy it cant hit them that hard to refund themself. Jeah the 30% for steam would be payed by themself but hey..happy customer buys more produkts. Why does that refund have to happen over steam? Does steam get % of the money even if you buy from CF-homepage? Since you still get a key that way.
GrimCreaper 22 lipca 2014 o 15:29
if i remember right, CF has to basicly pay per steam key. they buy the keys in batches though which is relatively inexpensive. But once a key is given to them, its non refundable
Censuur 22 lipca 2014 o 15:40
Chucklefish the company can refund me, the consumer. I do not care about the cut steam took, as near as I'm aware steam fulfulled their end of the bargain with hosting the game and deserve their earnings, Chucklefish did not, and I want my money back.

Simple as that.
