Personally, I got tired of carting all the furniture and blocks around so I don't bother looting those things and use /admin and /spawnitem when i'm building. Having way more fun making stuff without all the inventory hassle. I still ground for my gear, weapons and healing supplies though.
edit: Clarity. Need more sleep.
The first and foremost needs to be the addition of an "autostack" type button like in Terraria.
It would be insanely helpful to be able to walk up to say your "ore" crate, click the "autostack" button, and have it move any ores in your bag into the stacks in the crate automatically...
This would especially be helpful when it comes to storing crafting supplies. Having to mouse over them individually to see what they are, then search the crates to see where that item is.. It's one of the biggest flaws of the survival/crafting genre in general. And so far the only game I've played that makes it painless to manage is Terraria with it's autostack button.
They should also raise the stack limit for vanilla. Mods to increase the stack limit are almost necessary in order to enjoy the game without having to make countless (and pointless) trips back to your home base. (not to mention having to make ten times as many storage containers)
Shift + Left-click should move items from your inventory into containers and add them to existing stacks.
The Improved Containers mod has a quick stack function as well.
My single biggest complaint against it's inventory system is that none of the "food" parts of the food items will stack.
EX: 19 potatoes, which I've yet to see rot, won't stack with each other.
Canned Food will allso not stack, and I've never seen it rot either.
My second complaint, is of the types that DO rot, there's no easy way to sort them by "most-to-least rotten" (or least-to-most) so that I don't have to spend 10 to 30 seconds (in total) waiting for the pop-up info-boxes to tell me how rotten they are, so I can eat the ones closest to going bad first.
(given how long it can take to get the parts to make a refrigerator, this really should have been implemented from the get-go)
Sidenote: Last I'd heard, any food-item whose "rot condition" is "extremely well preserved" won't actually rot, but I'd really like some Developer confirmation on that
Third: I would like to be able to shove weapons I don't intend to use into a generic "weapons" slot, just to free up room for other stuff in that first page, but it isn't a deal-breaker.
Fourth: Reward Bags really should stack, since nothing about the bag tells the game what item it'll give. (item is totally random)
Fifth: I've long thought the Shiplocker should be a refrigerated storage. I fully understand why they don't let the player waltz around the planet with one, that is a bit overpowerd.
But why isn't the shiplocker one? I know I'll be crafting other refrigerators anyway, since I like having a whole lot of food on-hand, so what's the "real" reason Devs?
