Where to get Light Augment
Where exactly would I find a Light III Augment? The general answers of "the ape npc" meaning Lana Blake at the Outpost is not helpful. She sells me 3 augments, none of which are light. Also they are low level 1, no 2 or 3.

Does this NPC level up somehow over time? Does she change stock? How or why do people keep saying she sells them otherwise?

Thanks for the help! Stumbling around in darkness makes a pretty unfun game. Kinda confused how that was considered a good design but IDK I'm still playing...

She changes stock every 24 hours, just like how the avian changes buffs every 24 hours. Plus you can find them in chests on several planets or by completing the hylotl's quests at the outpost.

You always get light 2 for the first quest from Koishi to retrieve a grand avian sarcophagus

You are amazing, thank you! I had to reset my clock 16 times but it worked. I hate doing that kinda thing but it makes the game playable now at least. Cheap too, only $7,500.

A good tip but I already used it in the 3rd tier backpack, so I would lose it on the 4th :(

'o.O Torches and flashlight... fire weapons... that light back item thing... jeez... lol Couldn't NOT say something to this, you are after all underground or at night, so it is to be expected. Oh well, at least you got a solution.

Uhm.. just curious. How is the game unplayable without the light augment?

While it sure makes things a lot easier, there are plenty other ways to get light. Flashlight / Scanner can make a dark cave exploration very exciting.. if sometimes deadly when not swapping to weapon quick enough. Torches are easy to produce in big quantities and light a big area, with the added benefit of marking the path you've come through to find back out again (or to find to your dropped items, if you died). Another quite fun option is to use a capture pot to catch one of the flying light-bulb monsters, and use that as a pet and thus having a floating lamp wherever you go.

Start a colony for a merchant on your ship or base. Replace deed until you get a yellow stim selling merchant.
