Spaceship's windows
When working on my ship i covered one of the windows with background tiles. When i went to uncover it, it was gone and the background was just the gears and machinery.

Is there a way to get my window back... or to add more?

Thank you!

That could be a bug, if you're absolutely certain the window was in that exact spot. I haven't had this problem with windows disappearing.

But no, sadly there's nothing to be done about replacing the background with window. I wanted an observation deck, tried putting glass/window blocks in background, they just transparently show the darkened machinery that I don't want to see.

I suppose you can always try searching mods, but I don't fault anyone for wanting to play the vanilla game before jumping into modding. I'm the same way.

ty. I think there may be a way to "reset" the ship, like how it does when you upgrade (if you leave the machinery background and then upgrade, it does replace the back wall panels with the original tiles. maybe ill need to edit some files.

its a Glitch ship and the largest room should have four windows, i now only have three (far left now missing). ill screenshot when i can.

yea, i had noticed that... my problem now is that my ship is fully upgraded, so that isnt an option. that is what makes me think there may be a way to reset it, *like* it was upgraded without actually upgrading it.

if i figure it out, ill share!

I think you can reset the ship like you can a planet by deleting the respective save file... down side is obvious though: you lose everything on that ship, and God knows what else, if anything else. Highly doubt it's worth it, especially if your ship is packed like mine, but thought I'd mention it just in-case.

Does not the ship create up to 3 bak files?

I appreciate it! and yea, I'm not sure its worth the potential trouble!

Thank you all!

The windows are part of the background and can't dissapear in any way. You're looking in the wrong spot somehow.

This is impossible to happen. The windows are always going to be there, just like all the machines behind the panels.

To downgrade a ship which is fully upgraded, you can now do:
/admin
/upgradeship 7

Then to upgrade again,
/upgradeship 8

Do /admin again as you please. Have fun.
For the windows:

1. Get four blocks, e.g., cobblestone.
2. Equip the blocks for placement.
3. Right-click the window. This will fill the window in with the blocks as a wall.
4. Build unhindered, e.g., https://www.dropbox.com/s/atqbiynrdhv64hb/starbound-window-profit.png?dl=0
