Can I take items from NPCs houses and villages?

I found a village and some NPC houses, can I take the items that are inside boxes and chests or it's considered stealing?

So far looting chests/creates etc seems fine for me. Breaking furniture and taking it may cause them to go hostile.

Yes, you can. As long as you don't break any blocks/furniture/etc. with your manipulator, you'll be fine.

They never seem to do anything if you take items from chests/boxes but they make remarks if you use your matter manipulator to take stuff.

Killing them has no consequences anyway, plus I think you get a villian achievement for doing it, unless they removed it.

You can take some things here and there without them getting mad usualy. Fenax rarely have enough to get mad at you even if you steal all thier furnature.

You can take about one furniture item before they go hostile never happened to me though you can take stuff inside any containers with no worries.

You can take all the stuff you want from chests and crates, however, I find that there is a limit on how much furniture you can take (for me ~10)
