Figuratively, they disappeared, i have no idea where i died so its like they disapered lol .I was on my way to the surface when a ghost attacked me and for a reason i dont know, my shotgun refused to shoot.

Is there a way to teleport when we are underground ?

You can't have a minimap or gps tracker /locator of where your body was found, even if your ship is advanced enough to retrieve your body and reconstruct it cell by cell with cerebral memory upload and saving to The ship internal storage.
Mistery, huh?

i have plenty of experience as of late, the loot you drop at death do not disappear, it is rather persistent, even if you die 2 or 3 more times it is still possible to find your original loot, of course at some point in matter of game hours it despawns, but even if you die, close the game and a few hours later you log in, you can still recover it

i have no problems losing pixels or gear at death, but a penguin service for loot retrival wouldn't harm, specially if you fall of a george in god knows where without lighting source

I prepared a lot of food before going to a new planet, i craft ropes and salves.I die god knows where, i now i have to plan another expediton just to retrieve those damn matter manipulator thingies and weapons i realy needed. Its not the first time i died in this game, but its the first time i lost 3 hours of loot.

I would realy like to see a mod to prevent the t loss of inventory items.because i dont feel like playing this game much now.

The answer.
You can come back days later and it's still there.
I read earlier some guy had a quest item and the tracked quest pointed to the quest item on your death, need to test this out.

Hey if you don't know what you're talking about, don't make ♥♥♥♥ up. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I'm sick of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ answering questions on the forum with blatantly wrong answers. Why comment if you're gonna make it all up? Attention?

OP as the others have said, the loot will stay there for hours. You can close the game too and it will be there. I do think it eventually despawns though.

There are two mods you should look into on the workshop. One lets you beam to your ship from any where, even a core. The other makes you not drop items in survival mode.

You just need to remember where your loot is.
If you don't remember where you died exactly, you'll have to search.
As someone mentionned, if you got a quest item in your inventory, there will be a yellow arrow over your item(s) so it's much more easier to find them back.

Even if you drop your items at the core, you can get them back by making a tunel in the laval.

What I would use and could be interesting would be a glowing orb that you craft and put in your inventory. The use would be to help you recover items by automatically glowing when dropped. That would be neat instead of keeping a quest item at all time.

10x crystals + 1 Lava = Red orb
10x crystals + 1 Poison = Green orb
10x crystals + 1 Water = Blue orb
...

Hellz no map... Love it the way it is. Your loot should be hard to find imo. Not marked on a map for you.

heres a general evaluation of my experience with survival, and its death system.
Pixels, 30% is gone, obviously.
Items: no equipment whatsoever drops (such as tools and weapons, other things can such as torches, manipulator modules, etc.) ALL of your food will drop, ALL of your blocks and ore will too.
Yes, it sucks when you die, as you will lose alot of your things, but your progress specific stuff will not drop at least (your armor you made with the best stuff you can make it out of as example)
I want to say that the time it takes for your stuff to despawn is a semi random amount though, as ive had stuff stay where i last died for a couple of hours, and ive had stuff in other instances disappear within the hour. So do not rely on it being 'i can come back after a while, it'll still be there'.
Put it this way, if you die, everything that CAN drop WILL have dropped, so all you have to lose is pixels at that points (and honestly unless you have millions or billions of pixels, your stuff is more important) so if you can remember enough where your stuff is, it would be best to track it down, but do so CAREFULLY, more deaths only makes you take longer to get your things back, and can lead to irritation if it despawns before you can retrieve it.

But in the end, Survival is nice, because it gives you great incentive to not die, and to more tactically go at enemies and other such things.
One thing i am unclear on however, is if boss dungeons (erchius horror, dreadwing, etc.) will make you drop things or not, every time i have gone against them i have put everything in storage that i think would drop, and i have died a number of times against bosses, however i am almost certain that i still had things that would drop normally, but didnt due to it being a boss dungeon (though at the same time caution is better than wildly going in thinking itll all be safe anyways).
Good luck out there graduates, just get murderlized by tentacles like the rest of your organization <3

I died on my home planet and been forced to change of planet because of a computer crash before getting my stuff back. Came back 7 days later after dozens of hours of gameplayand my stuff was still there. As far as I know and experienced, items don't despawn what so ever.
