No cotton..?

So, I have spent a full day or so on this playthrough, then got to the point of making tier 2 armor, and realized I SOMEHOW ihad no cotton seeds yet. To verif, I even went back to my starting planet, and thoroughly searched the entire surface. Twice. no cotton.

Am I jsut totally screwed now?

Whats stopping you from going to another planet? Even if somehow your entire starting solar system has not a single lush or forest planet with cotton in it, you can always grab some fuel from a moon and fly off.

The wiki says only lush planets have cotton, is it forrest, too? Because my solar system only has one lush.

The wiki is outdated at times, though I think you might be right I don't recall seeing cotton on forest planets.

Still, means you might need to find another solar system. Get some glass and tungsten, create a breathing device, mine a moon for elerium and off ya go.

Alternatively, you can check with the various merchants on the planets, they can carry seeds, but of course chances are fairly slim it'll be the seeds you'll need.

And heck, if you got enough pixels you can also just buy tier 2 equipment from them. Lots of merchants on the desert and forest planets sell pretty great equipment.

You're definitely not screwed, there are a lot of planets out there to go visit to get what your starter one is missing. There's no reason you need to wait and get it there rather than start to fly around other places.

Remember to talk to all NPCs offering quests as you go along too. Some will offer you gardening quests where they give you the seeds they want grown, often a rare seed or product you haven't seen or got yet. You can accept the quest to get the seeds they want grown, then you don't have to actually do the quest or anything :D

Also as someone else mentioned to you here, you may want to buy Tier 2 instead. Tier 2 is the only tier I bought from NPCs and didn't make myself.

Even uif buying tier 2, wouldn't solve my wool problem. As cotton is required still for higher level armors. Anyone able to confidently confirm or deny the existance of cotton on forest planets?

Search forest planets then grow your cotton, either on your ship or a bookmarked planet so you can return there as often as you want.

That's two forrest planets searched, and a lsuh, and no cotton. I'm either extremely unlucky, or cotton doesn't grow on forrest planets.

You can actually buy Silk, Fabric, and etc. at the outpost store. Cotton (wool) is only strictly needed for one tier of armor.

I'm pretty sure cotton only grows on Lush planets.

I've found cotton on other planets. Pretty sure forest and/or jungle has it. It's only needed for the one teddy bear quest, and that shop is ridiculously overpriced and not worth unlocking until later anyway. Skip that armor tier and buy the canvaes for the next tier, cotton isn't used later for anything I have found. You'll need want to explore a few forest planets for your next quests anyway, so just play along naturually and you will find it when you find it.

Going 3-4 planets and not finding what you are looking for is not uncommon in this game. Just wait until you are trying to complete certain sub-biome item sets. In the mean time you are getting matter manipulator modules and other seeds which you can use.

I think ... that it does grow on Forest worlds as well, but I also found it to be rarer than I thought it really should be. I found one cotton plant on my starting world, and ... I used that one single plant to make the armor set that requires it and do the quest for the Bears, so ... that was a long time watching that plant like a hawk, harvesting it every time it was ready, and watering it constantly.

I have a lot now, but of course I no longer have a need for it.

Silk was far easier to obtain since you just make your Silk production items.
