Guards Tier 1 - 3
So googling a bit and looking through the official wiki and they have guards tier 1 - 3 but I have yet to see them. Pop down a weapon chest and bam tier 4 guard. I'm going off of appearances, the human that spawns is wearing the t4 equipment. I also thought weapon chests were a basic item and not a racial bound one, it only ever summons human guards and I thought it would be random race guards. Maybe it is tied to w.e race you are? Plus a weapon chest is only 6 blocks of combat and the wiki says you need 8 but the guard seems to spawn primarily off of a weapon chest a light and a door.

If anyone has any insight to this I would be highly appreciative, maybe i'm overlooking something.

The type of guard depends on what you have in the guards house, if you have floran furniture it will be a floran guard if you have human furniture it will be a human guard if you want to specify the race put 3 items of that race in the house with a weapon chest thats what I always do and it seems to work

IF they haven't changed it from what it was pre-1.0, the guards attire and weapon tier is affected by what kind of furniture is placed inside the house alongside the combat tagged item. If you put a Tungsten bed, they should spawn as tier 2. If you put a Titanium Bed, they should spawn as Tier 3 and etc. I think you only need one piece of furniature or light of a certain metal type to influence the tier, but I'm not sure.

So to get one of the high ranked guards (solarium) I would need some furniture of that quality?

How do you acquire this furniture? Do you have to buy it somewhere? cause I don't seem to be able to craft anything higher then durasteel. (Just don't have plans for anything)

Why even bother? I box my colonists in. They can't leave. Monsters can't attack. Pop down a flag if you need a way in and out. Teleportation is OP.

Sure, that's one way to play. But I like having guards and having a possibility that little billy might die. Gives my graveyard some use and makes the game more fun to me. Of course not everyone thinks this way and may think needing guards to protect their village is annoying but I like it.

Ya i know how to get it to spawn other races consistently its just that every race spawns as a tier 4 guard and i'm not sure why. The room for it/them consists of a flouresent light, door, weapon chest. Now they will always arive as human unless i put other race stuff in there. Might have to make a new character and play around, maybe there was a patch to fix this or something on a new save.
