If you spent a considerable amount of time building and stuff on a character you hate, well, if the universe works the way it always has, the universe is shared by all your toons. So just write down your home planet's coordinates and fly there ASAP on your next character, and hope it's not a billion miles away, I guess? lol.
Stay with your current race or make a new character, yeah i know it sucks. You can just take all of the items from the first character and put them in a chest somewhere so you get access to it from your new character. If so you can just use commands to get the tech cards, ship upgrades and the matter manipulator upgrades you will be missing after the change to the new character.
Next time you play a game where your race is this important you should have considered it long before.
Like creating another character and mess with ''player'' folder
For example
Create two characters +2 ships with them
And delete one character and your ship
Profit: you are a one race, on other racial* ship
