So platforms don't count as floor?
I made a really awesome 5 story tall base with all sorts of goodies in it (hangout floor, all my crafting stuff in one easy to access location, embarrasingly sensible bathroom including pipes to a tank). Most of the floors are connected with stairs and platforms.

And not only does my single crewmate (told to relax on the 4th floor) just drop all the way down to the bottom floor to stare longingly at the teleporter, but when I try to use a colony deed on any of the floors it gives me a big fat red X.

...I take it that the NPCs don't like floors made of just platform?

I believe they count as stairs, since placing them at an angle forms stairs.

Correct, they don't count as floors as far as NPC's are concerned. They'll use them if they have to but unless they're simple stairs they get confused and they do not separate rooms as far as colony deeds go.

you can use a horizontal door below the platform, place a sensor, wire it to the door, and the door will be instantly open whenever you move near it.
you wont even feel its there.

i do that with ALL colony doors.
it works with sliding doors, and regular doors.
but sliding doors are the best cause they don't take extra visual space when opened.

you'll need RAM for each sensor, and those can't be crafted.
so just hunt robots for'em on appropriate planets(try a cold one).
