How do I use the "Sprinkler"? [Solved]

I crafted 3 sprinklers, but they won't let me place them anywhere? I tried on ship, no luck, I tried on a planet where I dug a very large room out and tried, no luck either. Can someone send me ascreenshot of their sprinklers working or tell me how to make them work? :/

Solved : They go on the floor! :D

It has a 16 block range range both ways.

It needs clear headroom for the water to squirt

Im so dumb, and so is the picture tbh, I was trying to place it on the ceiling! Because it looks like it should attach to the ceiling and pour water down like a shower :D Sorry and thanks, will check if it works now ^^

I also wanted to place them above plants so I placed these wooden platforms to hold the sprinklers. this frees up a 2 block space for an extra plant, and the sprinker has an increased effective range.
