is there a way to swim in lava?

what are suppose to do about those lava ocean planets? there is almost nothing on the surface

You'll die if you swim in lava way before you can reach the bottom.

The only way I found to get to the bottom is to build a tunnel downwards, placing background and foreground barriers then draining the lava or fill it with blocks and break the blocks.
