I believe he was easier in the old version. I don't remember having any problems beating him last time. But last time I fought him I went in with a rocket launcher that had some sort of burst fire and took him out really quick. The current version of this game throws this fight at you way sooner. I haven't even found a rocket launcher yet. It would be nice if I had one, but like I said the game throws this fight at you way too soon.
If I've gotta be undergeared, I was hoping there was some way to cheese him. Maybe a spot I could sit where he can't dive attack me or something.
I don't get killed by the UFO in every time I fought him... It is his lackies that do me in. Tungsten is definitely not the tier needed most likely. He will still hit pretty hard when falling on you or swooping at you, but the rounds fired from him are pittance.
I just managed to dodge him after a while as that pattern is easy to learn. Or well simple to learn. Try fighting him in zoom x4 with the screen a bit panned upward, so the ground you stand on is at the bottom of the screen.
I have managed to get him near 1/3, but not close enough; then got shot in the back by a lacky he drops on you.
Think I just need a better spear... Have not found a replacement for the one I have yet. Yes I am using a spear; mainly for when he drops down or swoops.
Else it is using that spears secondary to clean up lackies, and switching to shield healy item every so often. I keep forgetting to use food. ><
He is quite tough to beat, but is possible; especially if you can kill the lackies quickly. I just have problems with those at the moment. UFO is simple to dodge if you can watch his movements. Reason why I suggest the zoom level and ... maybe is was zoom x2. Which ever one zooms a tad out more. Anyway with that and panning the screen a bit up should help a bit more to keep an eye on him.
Last time I forgot to do that, but since I had enough healy items I survived longer. I am durasteel tier; although can't say that my weapon is durasteel though... still need to upgrade that thing. Well I hope that helps some, as I know it does for myself; at least a little more progress in dropping his health. :D
you don't have to do the fight, its a side quest, its no longer part of the main mission.
It's better to save the fight until you upgrade your armor a few times, but it's possible early by just using the above cheesy method.
Ah , they finally fixed it eh? hehe
Maybe Chucklefish should have put this quest in a little closer toward end game rather than throwing it at you at the beginning of the game.
Beating him doesn't even give anything. I was sorta thinking a merchant or two might have been locked behind the fight. All I got was a goodie bag. Its totally not worth it. Wait till you can faceroll him with a higher tier rocket launcher.
I have to disagree with him being put for late game. But that is me, as I see it for those that want a challenge.
He was originally for titanium tier anyway. I know I will defeat him eventually; when I get a better spear. :P
Suppose to grow with you though, at least armor wise. The weapon on the other hand.. take a tier one pistol and use it with a high tier armor; and then you will get the effect in my experience I have been having with crew. Sure the armor upgrades with you character, which means that attack % on the armor you wear will be the % I am assuming the crew member will go by.
However seems like they keep their weapon you initially recruited them with.
Bascially probably should hire them on a higher tier planet maybe. *shrugs*
I have yet to find any crew or NPC OP in this game... even in the early versions of Koala so long ago.
Not really sure what to make of the crew system myself, so I am with you on that at least. but hey they can be your cover to some extent. :P
