[Solved] Multiplayer issue
Before I start, I just want to say sorry if I put this in the wrong forum, but either way, I feel like I need some help with this.

My friend and I are trying to play with eachother and I'm setting up a dedicated server for us. When my friend tries to join me, he gets an error saying, "Assets mismatch between client and server, and the override option is not set". The problem with that is that in my Starbound_server.cfg file, I have it set to true. I'm not sure if it's a server problem, a game problem, or a problem with my computer it's self.

When my friend tried to host, I got the same error that he was getting when he was trying to connect to me.

----------------------Solution--------------------------
Make sure both you and your friend have all the multiplayer options set to true (the box is checked), then have them try to connect to your IP using Hamachi, Evolve, anything that provides a VPN that you and your friend would have an IP to connect to.

Apperently my friend didn't have them marked as true, my friend was able to connect to me without a problem once I told him to check his settings

If you use the dedicated server thing in this location on your computer:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Starbound\win64
You should be able to launch a server, then change what you need in the Starbound_Server.cfg located here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Starbound\storage
The cfg file might not be there until run the Starbound_server.exe

I don't get it. I can't connet to the dedicated server using my IP. Can someone give a few instruction to get it to work correclty? Thanks

Are you using your regular IP or something like Hamachi or Evolve?

If you're trying to connect to your own computer as the dedicated server you can use 127.0.0.1 (or whatever localhost is). Others connecting you may need to forward ports and such.

We figured out the issue, my friend didn't have the "allow mismatched assets" thing checked on his client. We where able to connect without any problems after he changed that setting. I was able to connect to my own server just fine

i have one more question, what is the number of port? @@

It should be 21025, but if you're using something like Hamachi or Evolve, you shouldn't need to put a port in when you're trying to connect

Ah sorry that was directed at Amy.

finally, the "join with steam" is good enough for us. I wish my friend could play on the same map as me when i'm offline, but it does not really matter
