Is there a way to restart story progress?
So this is something that has also come from the unstable build but I wasn't sure if it was being changed or not.

Basically I have 1 character that has gone all the way through the entire story, when creating a new character that character can still access the new shops/ Story NPC's and the final mission right as soon as they get to the ARK and I was wondering if there is a way to reset that.

I've looked a bit at the universe files but so far I haven't found anything yet to fix this issue.
Any help?

If you want a complete reset - keep in mind everything will disappear.
Just rename your storage folder and launch the game.

Yeah that's always an option in the end but I'd like to be able to keep atleast my new character and the world I've been building on as them, just seems weird that story progress is shared over every character and there's no way to get rid of it without file diving.

I have tried only deleting the universe folder which resets the ARK but then also loses every world I've explored, I've tried tracking the file for the ARK as well but I've had no such luck.

My biggest issue with this game is the shared story for all new and old characters. That is a terrible design choice. Perhaps maybe not a terrible one for sandboxers that don't care about the story, but considering that there are people that want to replay the story without having to nuke their game and characters and side progress just to do it, its a terrible design flaw.

In your universe folder delete the "universe.dat" file. This will reset your uniferse flags for all characters, resetting the Outpost and effective story progress, but all planets will remain intact. Your new character will now be able to complete the story, but be warned that this will make the Outpost relatively unusable for your old character until the new character completes the story - ancient gateway usage is tied to this system, so your old character will not be able to get keys until your new character has gotten their first key.

There is a plenty easier way via the cheat. /resetuniverseflags

Much easier and I feel safer. No chance of accidentally deleting the wrong file if your clumsy or just not good with files.
