no you need to type /completequest floranmission1 and floranmission2 /i think it was do that with every race quest but the kill the final boss quest is the only one youll need to do

Once you get your ship repaired at the start of the game (after the *blankety-blank-blank* mine mission, which I loathe), you're free to go where you choose. I usually do the first of the scanning main missions, just for grins, but I haven't been on a main mission in about forty hours or so of game time. Like the TC, I've been busy exploring and gaining crew members, which is more fun to me than scanning some stupid Glitch statue for the lady in the floating wheelchair contraption.

lol im with you darkdisciple, will i miss out on certain items that you get through quest?

Going through the main quest for the first time in a universe (save file) has several benefits:

-After each racial mission, a new NPC appears in the Ark. Two of them offer side quests rewarding interesting unique weapons on completion, one of them gives you a buff lasting for a few minutes, one of them sells EPP Augments, and the last one can upgrade your Broken Broadsword into a very powerful sword. (These NPCs are available for all characters, not just the ones that complete the main quest.)

-Ursa Miner offers better goods for sale as you progress through the main quest on a character (this is on a per-character basis, so characters that do not go through the main quest can only buy basic stuff from Ursa Miner)

-After certain missions, new locations in the Outpost open up. One of them lets you create custom signs, and the other one lets you upgrade Boomerangs, Chakrams and Gauntlets to more-powerful versions (though you must complete a tough side quest first in order to access the shop). These shops stay open for all characters, even those that have not progressed sufficiently through the main quest.

-Almost every mission boss in the main quest has a unique boss weapon which has a 10% chance to drop on death.

-Completing the final mission of the main quest gives a special reward bag that grants you a lot of cool stuff when opened, including 25,000 Pixels.

-A bunch of lore books can only be found in main quest missions (important if you're pursuing Well Read).

That's all I can come up with for the moment. If I think of any more, I will edit them in later.

I agree with QuaestComm about the benefits of going through the main questline, but still...I've hated doing them since the old days of on-rails RPGs and other genres, where you absolutely HAVE to do things in this order or in that way, so I am a gaming curmudgeon when it comes to quests. Still, for completionists, and since I'll do it eventually, doing the main quests is helpful if you like uber-loot and such.

ok so if i skip missions how the heck do i get crystals to power my ship? i beat that ercuris horror and it said theres enouph crystals here to blah blah blah cant remember the exact words complete the quest saw pete adding crystals in a cutscene yet my ships fuel is empty. without doing more quest how do i get crystals?
Buffmania Oct 5, 2016 @ 11:41pm
You don't fuel your sihp with the mission crystal, Use the liquid stuff or the ore that you mine from moons. Just watch out for the ghost. Alternatively, you can buy fuel from the quick-stop store at the outpost.

How do you get to a moon without having fuel in the first place? If you did t do main quest
tamorr Oct 6, 2016 @ 10:33am
For flying to planets within the system, fuel cost is 0. For flying to other star systems, that is where fuel is needed.

Plus you can always buy fuel from the infinity express to the left side of outpost. :)

Thanks for the help guys

I usually buy the fuel, just because I get tired of Slimy McWormy chasing me across whatever moon I happen to be on at the time. Also, you have to create and then upgrade a backpack that allows you to breathe on orbiting bodies without an atmosphere, which is its own pain in the tuchus.

Thankfully, flying between adjacent systems really doesn't cost that much fuel. Also, if you get a crewmember who happens to be an engineer (I think?), the amount of fuel your ship can store gets larger over time.

Or to put it another way, there are many roads to the same destination, depending on if you wish to take the long way or the shortcut (via mods and console commands).
