uhh... does human eating cow make them a canibal?

Same premisis.

Canibal is same species eating. So unless you are eating another floran, then no.

This. Also floran are pretty much plants with the gift of a mind, soul and conscience and unless I am wrong, rice doesn't have any of those. Nor any plant food for that matter. So it's fine.

I think I know why is that floran were presented as Carnivores (meat-eater)... So eating plants would be odd in that sense.

But since that type of mechanic is not in the game... In a way it is a good thing for those that want open play instead of restrictive play. It is all in how you look at it or perceive it. :)

In some parts of the world monkey brains might be a delicacy. Don't hear much of people ever eating gorilla or apes though.

Cannibalism isn't super rare in amphibions and hylotts are amphibions. They even keep some of those frog spawn spheres or whatever they are. Tadpoles if they get hungry enough may eat each other even though they might be siblings. And well if the hylotts aren't reguarly feeding those tadpole spheres they are probably eating each other.

The avians though, they sacrifice children. They don't even need a food scarcity.

Theres other stuff too. The floran eatting rice is like eh. Lots of planets do stuff to kill other plants like those vine plants that grow over trees and block thier ability to get any sunlight so they starve to death.

Anyways its not uncommon to feed planets dead plant matter, aka compost.

It's nit-picky, but rice is a grain and not a leafy plant, so it's probably fine.

I don't imagine it's cannibalism anymore than a human biting their nails is.

Granted, but generally, you aren't eating the leaves, but rather the "fruiting bodies" of the plant. Now if a Floran was having a chef's salad, I could see the dilemma.

You're not a cannibal, but it is taboo for Florans to eat plants. They only eat meat.

If florans really cared about that stuff........They wouldn't make thier homes out of bamboo and other plants. They'd live in packed dirt houses or bone huts or like animal hide and bone houses. Or they'd live in big living trees where they take care of the trees. But nah, they live in chopped up bamboo houses.
