If you don't feel like mining you could simply go to a planet with a city and search the chests.
Or do the quests that open up the ore shop and buy Titanium.
You can also go to a titanium tier planet, or higher if you already got the radiation EPP upgrade and create with deeds, mercent houses to buy armor I suppose.
Your really not going to find titanium on the surface islands. At best maybe a couple in crates, its mostly deep underground on ocean planets.
For some odd reason if she were to spray over the ore with her paint attachment it would suddenly show up for her. So save up some MM cores and get the paint upgrade and spray to your hearts content.
Also... are you using iron armor at all? You shouldn't be getting your ass handed too you on a titanium planet in the early stages of the game. Unless you're standing around like a goober just waiting for it. Unless you somehow manages to get the enviormental pack upgraded for radiation stars... just a thought.
Get the paint upgrade.
to anna of mew, yes, i am using iron armor. and a shield. i have a bunch of salves and bandages, but when they do 29-33 damage with each hit, i don't stand much of a chance. they can hit me 3 times in approx. 6 seconds and that often kills me.
Remember you can block enemies in with dirt and stuff, and pure dig over use cave systems. At the core theres pretty much no enemies at all, only real danger is falling into the core.
You can also with deeds create merchants who sell yellow stims which make you glow and light up large areas automatically. You can even create them on your ship.
The ocean water can let you more safely dig straight down. If you have the spike ball tech you can climb back up through the straight down hole. Or place platforms or dirt up. You can also carry a teleporter to place when your deep underground to warp up and back down easily should you die or need more titanium.
