Where's all the natural durasteel veins?
Mind you, I've passed that entire tier long ago by just looting the boxes in various settlements. The thing is, Durasteel can make good looking construction blocks, and I'd really like a good supply to get started on building a base, farms etc. but I'd rather not travel and raid settlements for it.

Can I eventually find Durasteel ore if I just dig down? If so, then how far down?

When I was looking for large quantities of Durasteel, I would dig down to the core level of a planet. It seems to be much higher density down deep.

Never ended up digging too far. Ill try an oceanic base and see if I'll end up making a hellevator. Thanks for the tip.

The ore spawns much more often underground in Radioactive planets. I have this jungle planet that I can just explore a cave on and come out with TONS of durasteel.

Adding on to what Mari0man45 said, the best planet types for harvesting Durasteel Ore are Toxic, Jungle and Mutated planets, which are found most frequently around Radioactive (Yellow) stars. Durasteel ore also appears on Midnight/Dark, Frigid/Arctic (water) Ocean, and Frozen/Tundra planets (which are found most frequently around Frozen (Blue) stars), but it does NOT appear on any planet type other than those.

What kind of ocean are you planning on making the hellevator on? If it's a tropical (water) ocean with palm trees on islands and kelp on the ocean floor, you will NOT find Durasteel Ore, only Tungsten Ore and Titanium Ore.

Yeah I actually have no clue why I decided that looking for durasteel on Oceanic was a good idea. Was probably late. Oh well, at least I have a hellevator now.

Found a ton exploring down to the core on temperate. Something like 100 ingots in total about 1.5 h. There should be plenty if the planet has durasteel
