Game crashes when opening chests

Can someone help me figure out what mod is causing this? it only happens when i open chests even if its one i break and replace or build. it says something about parse issue cant find text field and then either brings me to main screen or crashes all togather. Here is my log.

[5] 7ff6e206d18f about page 74 is where that starts i have errors before then but dosent crash my game. as soon as u see that is when i opened the chest n crash

I had the same issue with the FU mod. Two things cause it if this is the mod in question. You either used a older character without starting out fresh, meaning you are using planets, maps made prior to installing FU or might have a bad copy or another mod that didn't download correctly. If you started fresh, unsubscribe from each mod and do a test. You most likely will crash the first bootup, as game is deleting items no longer in game. If you have FU, DO NOT UNINSTALL IT unless you plan wipeing your entire player/universe. Without FU, those files are unreadable and game will crash every time.

thanks im going to try to wipe everything but mods. i started a fresh character and did a universe wipe but guess im going to do a entire file wipe of characters and planets n see. Guess a mod by mod wipe will follow which sucks i have like 98 mods lol

Back your entire game up. After you do that, clear out the universe and player folders completely and with all your mods installed, test it out and see if the same thing happens. If it works, and you don't crash when opening containers, save the game, exit, and do one more complete backup. Reason for this, if everything works after starting new, you want a stable game. Last thing you want is start over, then add a mod that messes your game up, even after removing it. Two mods that I know of that alter the game permantly are Fracken Universe and the Penguin Piracy mod. You want to keep those two, because they add a LOT of content. If you get a lot of errors, put a pastebin here and I'll look it over. Sometimes its a old mod and I can most likely fix it.

Thanks xanthor i deleted the one chest mod. deleted univere and player and restarted game. it worked so i made a collection of all my mods and published it unsubbed all and reinstalled starbound. resubbed to the collection and everything works. so glad you saw this post i love this game and was like ima have to take hours to go througth one mod at a time n test. now back to 100 more hours lol.

Your welcome. If your using the game server to run your own game, I highly suggest if you don't own a non steam version, to look at humblebundle. They have a multi license on sale for $9.89 for both the steam and non steam version. This means you get two licenses for under the price of one! I highly suggest buying it for the server program alone. I learned from many that the steam server version gets errors while the stand alone doesn't. Just copy all your workshop mods over to it and rename them from content.pak to whatever the mod name is. I'm working on an easier way to do this, and will post it once done, but in the mean time, this is what I do. I unsubscribe and subscribe to make it easier to find the mod, then rename it with steams identifier so when a file gets updated, I know what it is. For instance, Better NPC Equipment-886398580.pak. Not only did I rename it from content, I included the folder number it was in so I can update it later, and finding using search when you have 180+ mods, is a synch. It's a bit of work, but in the long run both steam and non steam clients will be able to log in without any server errors. Not to mention that annoying issue of getting the game to load when the steam server is running will no longer be an issue. Especially using PenGUin GUI.

kool i may get a server eventually. i have steam and non steam copy i kick start funded it ages ago for the soundtrack because i came across it when i was searching for rimworld and someone was like hey this game is like rimworld check it out. best games ever

rimworld? Guess Ill check that out myself. I just bought an incomplete one that looks so much like starbound called edge of space. Normally $14.99 but on sale at $4.50 so decided to give it a try.

yea rimworld is really cool. if you wanna watch some gameplay before you buy id say check out etalyx on youtube he does good rimworld videos. Their are so many mods i use the kickstarter version you get in emails as theirs a modpack i use you cant get from steam

i guess he did a kickstarter for rimworld AGES ago and thats how i originally got the game because i got my name in the game. so i assume its the same as the website not sure. because i got the steam version when it was released for free.
