Have they stopped updating Starbound?
I noticed on the news, a lot of their updates are old. Have they stopped working on the game and adding new features?

Also curious

The timeline lines up with them being sued and never touching the game again.

What were they sued for?

Cookie Warrior- I'm not very knowledgeable here, but there was something about not paying musicians, and they must have gotten sued for such.

They did not pay for a large amount of the work done on the game.
they were known for the fact that most of the games sprites especially were made by people who weren't so experienced and were trying to get into the game dev scene.

because of this they were able to get away with not paying for a lot of labor on the game.

they were known as well for taking all of a day to boot people.

a lot of these people were also minors.

they were sued for it, and the game has not been updated since about 2019.

the bounty hunter update was the last one, and i do not expect any more updates to ever happen.

Which is sad really. This was and still is one of my favorite games of all time. It's really sad to see how it was handled and now is left to die. :(

Oof. That's really scummy.

Almost immediately got an update, kind of funny

About that with the unpaid devs, there is an article: https://screenrant.com/starbound-chucklefish-unpaid-developer-accusation/ It is not completely black and white, most likely only the involved are knowing the full story.

Wow. That's so awful. I'm so disappointed in them. I had such high hopes and love for this game.

The game has been finished for years. Any and all updates after 1.0 were just bonus updates, like you see with Terraria.

Don't believe anything you read on these forums, as someone said before, it isn't as black and white as: "Chucklefish did this thing and they're awful"
There's a whole bigger part of this story then summerized before.

Your best chance at keeping the game alive is to subscribe to frackin universe, especially if you want to see extreme amounts of new content, highly recommend. Frackin Universe adds elements that overlap vanilla content. Vanilla content is still vastly available, but frackin adds so much more that you never knew you wanted. Have fun :)

Yeah most people leave out the part where the story came out on social media by those that were upset with the cut they got (as everyone was compensated per their contracts...) with Chucklefish offering to discuss it with them. But it all was coming out about 7+ years after the "fact" when Starbound was suddenly profitable enough for the studio to start other projects and was almost entirely "he said, she said" with only vague references to emails and other things... but nothing concrete ever offered or any actual court case or legal proceedings which would have been possible at the time as there is no stature of limitations on the labor law violations they were accused of. Funny enough it died off quickly from news sites and other places when words like libel, slander and defamation where mentioned in regards to unsupported allegations ... aka "put up or shut up"
Chucklefish is a lot worse than i expected

Based on what? Random claims that none backed up with any evidence?
