[FU] how to generate TONS of research?
Hello and thanks in advance for your help

I played vanilla til the end of main story and switched over to FU + Arcane + RPG Growth
Everything works fine and I am enjoying the game, but the research currency gain is so slow considering I now need... (like 26k to complete the last 2 new/extra Tech tree in engineering...)

basically I would be just fine with like 100k research I think.

That's a LOT of hours playing the game, so there must be another way than just 1 research per second (+bonus per second when you play for a long time).

I only ever used the basic extractor/centrifuge devices so far.

Can someone point me in the right direction please? (if there is an admin command, I am interested in learning it as well)

Uh you have machines creating research for you

Which ones specifically?

(I am not a builder type of player, so I build the minimum I can, at least until I unlock everything, then I can enjoy the sandbox)

You are meant to explore and look at everything you can do in this mod. Are you telling me that you are skipping most of it?

It's just that a good part of FU is grind and machines. It's probably not made for you as you need to grind for ressources to make machine and upgrade them. If you don't explore what you have in your capacities, you aren't playing right

Wow, just wow, where have I just set foot?

Playing a game is only about having fun, not about playing it "right" (now it would be fun to define that notion at all: to play a game right... if I don't then I play it wrong? Can you play wrong in a sandbox?) Or play it unmodded/vanilla.

After 215 hours on Starbound, trust me I am FINE and I am having fun, or I would move on to play something else.

I am grinding rare ores, research tree, loot, mechs, techs, quests, upgrading my tools... I worked my way up to advanced plastic and I am building stuff, just probably not as much as you guys do.
Honestly this is my fun with the game. For now.

But the research tree now requires an insane amount of currency that I don't know how to generate properly, hence why I asked.

You tell me to go back to FU tutorial quests and grind, ok, that's fine, I will do that.

My technique: I put my base on a high threat world to increase the research/time when I'm not exploring (so while I'm crafting, or base-building, or converting blocks to resources). I've accumulated a large excess of research that way. I'm at the point that I generally need rare materials to research further. I expect I'll eventually be converting research to pixels.

@Urman Thank you for your constructive insight and for posting it to help me and everyone else who will find this topic.

I did not know planet tier would affect research generated, I guess that it is my bottleneck, since I am extracting blocks and liquids all the time without generating much research.

I guess I should build a base on a decent tiered planet instead of expanding my ship to put in more and more crafting stations...

I'm very late to this but if it still interests you, you can farm boneboo in Hydro trays and stuff those into computers or research servers. It's the most valuable in price to growth speed ratio. Current build I have makes avg; 740 research per min. And since it's my main base I get 10's of thousands of research an hour. Entire process is fully automated. It also uses a perpetual deuterium farm for a large fusion reactor. (Although it makes enough fuel for 3)
Let me know if you still want to know how.

Wiki says that research speed depends on the tier of your current area.
Home ship counts as tier 0 and has the slowest research.
