Way to auto target? [ANSWERED]
I have a friend who can only play with controller / joypad due to medical issues. They want to get into this game, but without a target lock mod / auto targeting it is hard for them to try to move, aim, fire and handle different things all at once. Does someone know of a way to turn on / configure an auto target system? I appreciate your time and help. Have a wonderful week.

If you don't yet have access to Penguin Bay, you can use the following command to spawn in the Aimbot Maker:
/spawnitem antr_aimbotsettings

Its a bit generalised, you may want to give it a bigger scanning radius than the default (60 makes mid-range aiming obsolete, 120 will often target stuff that's offscreen)

I couldn't really give it an on/off button, doing so will either conflict with modded weapons or will require the sacrifice of a tech slot.
You can keep on you a non-aimbotted weapon if you want the ability to shoot at something without it snapping to the nearest enemy.

Also, it works best with assault rifles that have fast moving bullets, it does not have any compensation for gravity-based projectiles or moving targets.

I know of no cheat like that, but perhaps they need to try more weapons? I find only a few really feel good for me, I favor fast melee weapons and usually do a strong one hander and med pack as my go to for fights early on. Once you got a few crew mates gear them up with decent ranged weapons and they will help, so Id suggest your friend try to struggle through best they can. I know that first mining mission can be hard solo if you dont get lucky with some solid chest drops.

Maybe try doing a duo play through with them first time to help them have a chance to learn while you help keep them safe?
Howdy, I'm the aforementioned friend. :cozyspaceengineersb: I appreciate you making the topic, Bruv, and thanks for the response, Jedi.

I'll try to elaborate. I used to play this years back and have about 36 hours clocked in(Some of it with Frackin' Universe) so I already have a run down on how the gameplay works, but to keep matters short between now and then some stuff happened and now a mouse+keyboard just isn't ergonomic for me when it comes to gameplay.

Specifically what I'm looking for is a "Smart Cursor" and auto-lock on, sort of like what Terraria has for gamepad users that makes mining and combat feasible for that mode of gameplay.

I can play the game some, but turning around and keeping on top of things combat wise just isn't feasible anymore, and it makes the matter manipulator clunky since I lack the precision and speed of the mouse. Unfortunately, it's just not something I can really have fun with at the time, ergo why we're looking for the "terraria" option/cheat/mod.

Edit:Just adding I've worked with all the weapon classes, unfortunately this is a problem that spans all of them.

I'm gonna go see if its possible to make some sort of primitive aimbot for guns.

Question: How hard is it to aim?
Like, are you capable of atleast vaguely pointing at your targets position?
Need this info, so I can figure out how I should implement & configure the tracker that marks the targets.

Thank you for undertaking this task. I truly appreciate it. Honestly if you can get anything for guns / weapons that can "point" towards them that would help a lot. I know they struggle with the multitasking / moving hands / wrist all at once due to their medical issues. If I knew how to code / make a mod I already would have but that is 1 thing I can not do sadly.

shoo, i'd need a vanilla milkshake for That One, aimbot MODIFICATIONS, geez

I can aim and shoot at stuff/move the cursor over mobs, but I can't be very precise with it and it takes a lot of work and time to turn around/shift my aim while also keeping the target under fire and evading. It gets especially dicey if I'm surrounded or faced with multiple targets, or something airborne/aquatic that moves around a lot.

If I could just get the cursor to stick to the target I put it over with a button press and shift it to another if need be like in Terraria, I think I'll be golden.

I really appreciate you taking the time to help, thanks Anter. :thumb:

Unfortunately, there is no such system in the game and I don't believe it's possible via modding with what little is exposed in terms of controls.

As someone who has always had issues with standard mice, I must ask: have you tried using a trackball mouse like the Logitech M570[smile.amazon.com]?

Thank you so much. I'll talk to my pal and see if they can get it work how they need. Does this require any mods to make it work in itself?

antrutilitylib Guess I should read before I ask. >.< Sorry.

It requires itself and my global function library.

Also, it doesn't really need setup, just open up the Aimbot Maker, give it a range, press "Spawn" and use the non-consumable augment on an aimable weapon (works on most spears aswell).

If you want to visually see what its doing, turn on "Debug Mode" in the Aimbot Maker & use the command /debug.

Regardless I made my own answer method. XD

Thank you again so much for taking the time to do this. Didn't see a Patreon or anything on your stuff, but if you make good mods / content then I'm happy to donate.

That is pretty awesome of a modder. To go and make a specific mod to enable some one to play. This would be one of few id actually pay for.

To Anter my hats off to you bro. And respect to you.

I've never been so glad to have been proven wrong. Great job, Anter.
