Cheating is a problem.
I discovered admin mode when trying to find a way to advance in the game faster (The game takes way tooooo long to complete). I was searching (On Google) "Cheats for Starbound" when I found out how to use /admin. Ever since then I've tried to stop using admin mode, but I can't forget about it. (I know this will anger people) I think it should be REMOVED so that poeple who know about get to play the game without using cheats to get through the game. That is all, but until it gets removed, I can't shake the feeling that /admin still exists to beat the game within three seconds.

You could always just... not use admin mode.

Aside from exercising basic impulse control, you could also play on a server that doesn't allow you to use /admin. Or you can even disable it in the config by opening Starbound\storage\starbound.config and setting
"allowAdminCommands" : false,
.

I'm the opposite. After many years of running private servers of various kinds in all sorts of genre, I'm used to using admin commands judiciously and sparingly. My impulse control is total, and I absolutely draw the line at anything that feels remotely like cheating.

I use admin commands to work around bugs, crashes, or engine limitations, such as killing crew with a command to set new spawn positions so they don't all crowd around the teleporter, or using admin teleport to return to ship after a game crash kicks me back to an underground location from hours ago. I'll sometimes spawn in certain uncraftable decorations, but nothing that must be earned/unlocked or that is unique and special (vendor objects like Terramart, gate to the Ruin, etc.), and if so I'll sacrifice a roughly equivalent amount of resources as though I'd crafted the item(s).

It's a huge advantage, because I get the flexibility of having full access to all commands, but am never tempted to abuse them. It helps that I'm not the type of person who exploits every possible advantage they can find within games (nothing wrong with that sort of person, but I'm not one of them).

Best you can do for yourself is just what EmberQuill said: Disable them in the config file. Even if Chucklefish removed the ability to easily access admin commands, someone would just make a mod, so you'll never be entirely free of the temptation. The ability to cheat will always be there.

/admin is to Starbound Players as Mana is to Blood Elves.

You can hide the addiction for a little bit, but not for too long.

Although, I use /admin and multiple item spawners cause I play the game just to build stuff without having to spend 24 decillion eons having to gather the resources. Admin can, in fact, be used for good means, but I find it best if I keep it in czech.

i usually like to use admin just to spawn in things i use as vanity items or building blocks or a single material if im missing something for a craft. just use it less, is the advice i'd give.

admin mode only for the mecha BS... If you keep using it, you will kill the little and only reason to play this game.

Suffice to say, excercise self control.
If you use it despite not liking to use it, shame on yourself. You & yourself alone are to blame, not everyone else.

not to be rude, but... your post is basically saying "i don't like this and therefore it should be removed"
that's... that's not the devs' problem, that's your problem

self control is the way to go, i played a lot of starbound build ridiculous ♥♥♥♥ over the time, though i never got to the end of the game, just find your balance, i mean, i started so many characters that building a home from zero, gathering resourses and things like that are a pain, so i use /admin to build a tier one home, a simple one, and from there i almost never use it

Admin mode is crucial for testing WIP mods and sometimes even using mods that don't provide recipes. It can be used by server admins when someone places an instant deathtrap on a world's beam down point. It lets players access items they missed like the protectorate flower or cape.
More importantly, though, whether or not you cheat is your directive--and whether or not someone else cheats is theirs.

You want the developers to remove a useful tool just because you possess very little self-control?...
Fryskar Dec 20, 2018 @ 12:04am
Disagree.
Even now with frackin universe and a ton new receipts i don't cheat.
Well, one might argue modding is cheating. Even then i think i play rather fair.

Do you really and honestly not have the mental capacity to limit yourself from using it?
Really?
If anything, it sohuld eat your conscious enough that you detest the idea.

Considering that there is a way to lock any random from using admin commands in your server, your so called worry is completely unwarranted. OP is completely uneducated and seemingly unable to do a simple google search to find out such info for themselves.

Oh, and did we forget to mention they have zero sense of self-control?

nah, servers usually have /admin turned off for everyone that isn't... yknow, an admin
and there's almost definitely a command to turn off /admin for multiplayer shenanigans that don't involve a dedicated server
this literally is only a problem in poorly-designed servers or in singleplayer, and in the latter case, the solution is self-control
