What Happened With Frackin' Universe?
I'm here doing my Collection of MODs to play with my friends and suddenly a MOD is missing... Where's Frackin' Universe? The best and most important MOD of all....

Therea another thread here about it, but due to some mixup it's down. FU will be back in about 9 days. Until then you can still play if you had it installed. If you need to install before it comes back on the workshop search around and you should find it online to download and manually install.

Basically a modder came back from a long haitus, wanted his code removed, and Sayter happily obliged, replacing the code that was rooted out with his own. It was a minor mistake involving Pumps.

However, I suppose Sayter didnt catch the DMCA in time, so hes been pulled down for a few days until some automated thing puts him back up. Its a mistake on Steams part, not the modders.

Yeah, I was just about to ask the same thing! Looks like the other comments answered my question...

Steam: Yeah just let one of our bot remove the biggest mod of a game without human intervention.

Why not? It doesn't impact *their* bottom line, except in a positive way. They're covering their legal posterior in regards to the DCMA without huge fines. It's the fiscally smart thing for them to have done.

I did install it back here, but it's taking ages to load the game, do you know why? Wasn't that bad before...

Sounds like a residual of the old workshop mod is still loaded (can happen even if Steam deletes the mod). Try removing it from out-of-game through your library. Through library, Select Starbound, then select community. Go to workshop tab, select "My items" and select "subscribed". Remove FU from there.

Remember: If there is ever a candidate that offers to repeal IP law, this is why you vote for them.

Yeah but the problem is, this is an international agreement. So he's got a REAL uphill battle. Cause he's also got to co-ordinate with the other countries that signed on to that.

I do not consider "international agreements" that apply to all the people within a country and not just the government and its military as valid, and nobody should.

Letting someone outside your borders legislate your laws is retarded, and this before even getting into the fact these laws primarily benefit multinationals, who largely have no true allegiance to any country they reside in, and frankly shouldn't be benefiting from our legal system in this way.

Another reason why Steam is utter s.h.i.t storm , oh wait another reason why humanity is useless. We rely on automated responses and robots, cause lets face it, no one gets paid enough to handle these things! Its too much work and effort to sift through databases and checking game content and mods at the same time. Since you have to install it, add the mod, compare it, check it against another mod, compare it. Decompile (maybe), look at the code, is it the same...

oh god *click* closing it. Lets just ban the user for a few days, remove mod ,and call it a day. Better yet, let a bot do it automatically because 1000 people reported it and we had a threshhold.

Sooner or later, everything will be automated and there isn't a human thing you can do about it. If that keeps up humanity and support is lost. I would fight back before it happens. Good Luck folks. Thank god there are places not like Steam that have mods and don't care or require you to prove your work this intensively. God, atleast we have mods, if the devs gave a two cents about content we might not even need modders.
