(solved) Game is too hard
I'm playing on the easiest setting and every enemy is killing me before I can find where to get cores. What do I do?

Edit: I was playing the game wrong. I have it figured out now.

Actually, the first planet is quite difficult compared to the rest of the game. You have no techs or EPP augments yet (EPP augs give strong passive boosts), and you have to enter a dark, cramped space full of slimes and bats (being small and bouncing is actually a very effective means of monster evasion, much more effective than most) with crap gear, knowing nothing about the game.

Furthermore, enemies that are slightly above your tier are massive bullet sponges (especially without augments), because Chucklefish's progression design is extremely rigid and simplistic.

What I suspect you need to do is heal a lot. You can make salves from plant fiber from hanging vines, and also you'll find a lot of salves in the mine boxes. Spam those salves. Don't worry, salves are practically free in this game.

Make sure you have the strongest weapon possible, preferably a spear since you can actually aim it, and at least a piece or two of basic armor if you can manage to craft them.

Have you got...
any mods? (Or vanilla game?)
Any armor pieces?
A shield?
Bandages/salve?
A ranged weapon?
Food?
Any form of bed?
Lots of torches/other lightsources?
Rope?

Did you already explore the uppermost level?
Your starterplanet should have a certain mine you can easily loot to improve your gear and get some cores.
Else it willl help if you try to set up a forge and craft even the most basic armor.

Also its rather normal to die a few times in the beginning.

The game has a certainly odd difficulty progression. Usually, it helps to either spend time in the 'easier' (relative) areas (though if you just started, this isn't really possible :P) and be sure you have ALL the best possible gear reasonable before you progress. It's really fun to play with a friend, so if you have someone else, things may become easier. It is definitely normal to die alot in the begining given the lack of mobility and lack of understanding of enemy AI etc, but that comes pretty quickly. Having all of the gear in the previous comment helps. If all else fails, maybe watch a playthrough and see if youre missing a step. good luck!

Thanks for the comments. I see what I'm doing wrong now (a lot of things, lol).

If it were that simple, I would have done that on my own.

It's worth noting that this game can get very hard indeed, with mods. This one, for example:

At tier 8+, radioactive planets are absurdly difficult no matter what gear you have, unless you're using some extremely powerful modded items.
