Dark Cavern???

So on the very first world, I came across a door that asked me if I'd like to teleport to Dark Cavern???. I stepped through and was put into an actually fairly well lit cavern where as I was getting story prompts from a NPC in a chat window wondering what happened to the place. It was swarming with Monsters and I was doing fairly well, but I cant use my matter manipulator on anything; not even dirt. I can't build anything either with the materials I have in my bags. There are obviously some spaces that I can't jump or reach without the MM or building something; so I cant figure out if there is a bug or if this is supposed to be like this. I'm currently running Fraken Universe and I'll post under bug reports after checking here. I just wasnt sure if this was something story driven or I havent gotten an upgrade or something needed to be in this area.

This is the part of FU.
You can't interact with tiles because it's instance mission,same as Erchius facility and others.
Use ropes.
