Armor wise, it's doable without any armor. But if you absolutely need it, at least have iron gear with you considering this is the first instanced dungeon you go into in the game officially. I would recommend bringing a weapon that has knockback as well and otherwise your choice of preferred weapons.

Otherwise, just bring lots of healing items with you and take your time. The healing salves should be plentiful if you've been mining the vines on planets and such at least, and if you can afford it, get some bandages as well.

The main threat in this dungeon are the humanoids that spray at you so just keep your distance from them and use knockback weapons if they get to close.

The boss itself in this dungeon, well if you want the spoiler then continue on.

This boss is the easiest in the game, litterally. While the boss is immune to all damage you can output regardless of element, the way to kill the boss is quite simple and it's just a platformer type fight. Occasionally it'll spit out the spitting humanoids, but you can avoid them easily.

The way to beat the boss is to simply stay between it's beams and use all four objects in the room to load up the cannon at the bottom of the room three times. So, it'll be like this... Fight starts, flip all four switch objects, use the object at the bottom, repeat two more times while staying between the beams the boss uses.

Again, this is more of a platformer fight but you don't need to attack at all as long as you activate the objects quick enough. If you get hit by the beams, simply use a healing salve (Easily crafted with the vines you can find in caves in normal gameplay) or any other healing item while staying between the beams as best you can.

A shield, some healing items and a bit of training
In this mission, every attacks can be deflected by shields

I recommend tier 2 armor.

Iron gear, basic shield, iron spear and shortsword and a lot of salves + molotovs
it gets me through every time!

I have tended towards dual revolvers on some playthroughs (keep distance and spam shots) but dual short swords work well too.

Just avoid the spray either through hitting hard and fast from range, or backpedaling and then going melee

Generally you should, at the very least, get the best tiered armor you have access to on the planets you were exploring for scanning targets. e.g. tier 2 planets before the next (Floran) mission, tier 3 before the Hylotl, etc. Iron armor before Erchius is pretty standard.
