whats the deal with the positive review bomb?

from june 1st to july 1st starbound got enough positive reviews for steam to mark it off topic. Anyone know why?

there was a glitch with the steam event where if you drink soda in the game it gave you a ton of points, so people bought this game solely to spawn in soda and drink it to get steam levels

if you look at my profile im level 70, before the event i was level 24, and i didn't do the glitch. just to give you an idea of how overpowered it was
