Can I change my ship midgame?(Modded ship)
I have Frackin Universe, but I just wasn't feeling too creative..I didn't like the human ship either, though, so I actually ended up downloading a user created ship from the Steam Workshop, specifically the ship Serenity from Firefly. I love the design of it and all, but it doesn't have a lot of room. It's a bit small. Now it's mostly my fault, being that this is my first official playthrough. The amount of tutorial missions you have to to go through to unlock ship upgrades, augments, mechs, illegal ship licenses, and crew is just agonizing. Worst part of the game. I just never had the patience. All I wanted to do was have my own ship, my own crew, and explore the universe. Well, anyway..Now that I'm done with it all, I actually enjoy this game a lot.

Or do you guys just not use your ship for absolutely everything? I have the whole cargo area full of different workshops, and I wanted to maybe farm. I mean..How do all of you use your ships?

you can delete your shipworld file and install a ship mod, that might work, but back it up fam
i have my ship with crafting stations, a main base in an asteroid field ( i ahve a mod that allows you to set gravity with a generator, no it's not FU, and a testing base on a ocean.
tbh i might change my ship to something else, the layout of the novakid ship is annoying

Well, how do you do it personally? Because I've tried deleting folders before to salvage my own character(In a backup folder), but despite moving all the files back, my old character was sort of just lost forever. It sounds like you use your ship just for things that are essential. But as far as recruiting people, actual living quarters, farms and etc, it's standard practice just to build a base or a colony..I was considering building a secret colony inside of an asteroid, but the colony might just have to be on a planet. I could also build my own spacestation. I have no idea..I'm completely overwhelmed by all the things you can do in the game. It's daunting, but incredible at the same time. I don't know what other people are doing..I started building a castle made of heavy stone on one of the lush starter planets with the purpose of building a farm, but I just need to think about it.

i recommend having a base for storage, possibly with cargo containers or storage lockers.
the reason why is because you can expand a base pretty much indefinitely, but you can only upgrade your ship's space to a certain limit. asteroid bases are cool, but i don't recommend making them until you are very experienced, and even then mods are pretty much necessary to build a base there (gravity field generators)
