Is it advisable to build a home base in an asteroid field?
The thing is that I want a space base. Considering moons have unkillable monsters, I feel like a Asteroid field - with almost no hostiles at all would be good. However, is that a good idea? First of all, when beaming down to one of them, do I always land in the same place, or might I miss the base and fall into nothing?
Another point, does the game have an airlock feature, so could I take off my EPP in closed rooms?

Are there any other arguments for and against, or alternatives for cool bases?
Thanks in advance.

ok I'll tackle each question one by one.

- I've made an asteroid base just fine and nothing happened to this day.

-There are some ghost monsters on the asteroid fields but they're low threat and easy to kill

-When you beam down, you should land on asteroid, if you jump off an asteroid you will remain in freefall until you land on another one, so grappling hooks and ropes are good here ( no you can't fall into the endless void and die )

-There are no airlocks, and yes if you do remove your EPP you'd die, if you want that to change there's a mod called something like 'Enviromental Control' or something like that, it allows you to warm up or cool down an area and make it breathable, only in certain areas,

-one last 'threat' are a 1 in 10000000000000000 chance of a random metroid hitting your buildings. There are some blocks that can stop metroids from breaking those certain blocks.

You can actually take off your EPP with the Enviromental Safety Mod (Aka in anubis 4th question answer) IF you build an airlock (Airlock door or something air tight) If you make large rooms you need the big brother to the enviromental console, also if you don't want to be hit by flying meatballs in space (Metroid) then build your base INSIDE of the actual asteroid.

While you can indeed die from hitting the end of the world, it takes really damn long for that to happen. You will land on a large number of asteroids before you hit the bottom, and you can beam back to your ship at anytime.

Your beam down spot will stay the same unless you change it so much that it is no longer valid. So don't remove all the rock below it, or fill in the area. To make things easier just place a flag down to save your beam in spot.
