Best way to gather resources?

I was wondering what is the best way to get resources in this game since mining tends to take up about 3/4 of my time playing this game and i still dont seem to get enough resources for what I need.

Which resources? If you're refering to mining, I just dig to a planet's lava layer with an ore detector and I often gather 400+ ore. You could also probably place a teleporter down at the lava layer and constantly beam up and down, and eventually collect all of the ore there. If you want crafting materials, just get a hunting weapon and travel to where the monster that drops it appears most frequently.

Mining is your way to go, the trick is to understand what you need to upgrade your tools and gear and focus on that. There's no point going somewhere difficult to mine something common that can be found in abundance somewhere easy.

Start on easy planets and dig downwards looking for the pre created mineshafts, search all the boxes looking for manipulator modules and tech cards. Mining will be easy once you've done that and then also focus on getting the materials to upgrade your workstations.It's slow at first because you're supposed to be weak/underpowered. Focus on upgrading yourself and get the ore detector item the other user mentioned which needs a 2nd tier agricultural station. At that point you'll get plenty of ores when you go mining.

Fluffallos and the other farm animals are great for those items.

When it comes to ores, the first tiers can be acquired from atroids a lot of times, there is an abundance and pretty much no danger.

Later tier ores, well go underground, the further down you go, the more common they get. The highest tier of the planet can also be found in the lava layer mostly. Just don't fall down into the lava and lose all your stuff

You prolly know this already, but if you plan on mining near the core, where most of the goodies are, bring a mining pick or five if your matter manipulator isn't well upgraded. The stone there is a real chore to dig through with an unupgraded one.
