There's no enemies or life on barren planets, but it require alot of work.

Forest and lush planets provide easy enemies and excellent farmland.

It's easy enough to build on all planets really. It only depends on what setting you wish for your project. Just try to avoid places that tend to have meteor showers.

i build on lava planets cos lots of tenant cash just place a lot of turrets
For what would you need lots of cash? Most of the items that are desirable are relatively cheap. With my other char i had everything i wanted without grind for pixels

Build on a big asteroid. Tenants don't need oxygen anyway (if you want to make it a colony, of course).

I have wondered about this. What kind of lunatic tenants are we getting that they will pay more to live on a hellscape of danger than in a garden paradise?

It's all in how you sell it.

I keep a base on a couple different places.

My homeworld in SP (garden obviously) is kind of my emergency pit stop, houses my backup farm and storage area. Built it out of the volatile mine mini-dungeon and dug a few tunnels in places to get around better. If you really assess the layout I think they filled in a few spots with dirt, but left subtle cues of "Dig here X" as to where they had tunnels originally. I like it because I can adventure in MP and drop things in SP there for when I do build more.

I have another base on a forest world, rains like ALL the time which is great and it snows which just makes me feel like theres variety. Its mainly a logging camp so I keep it lightly stocked because its MP and I really don't trust the concept of actually storing things there. Grief potection only goes so far, people are less likely to jack your furniture versus the 16 items in your crate.

I've got places marked all over for building though, but I'm only like 40 hours into the game so I can't speak to your higher level worlds and the MP I play on disabled ocean worlds for some reason I have yet to understand, but those would probably be fun and an underwater base would probably be fairly safe.

I've heard alot of people talking about moonbases, something about they're actually a higher danger level than any planet so the payout on tenants is great provided you don't carry fuel. Haven't started my tenant empire yet so IDK about that one either.

I don't like desert or barren because I feel like rain adds a level of utility and variety to playing.

I base all over the the place. Start on a Barren planet if you want peace to build with no attacks. You can add a top layer dirt yourself and plant grass if needed. My highest base atm is on a magma planet. I build straight down into the lava using ornate wood and paperwalls. The weather is lovely, a bit of shiny rain and thats all.
Havent tried a moon yet, the weather would mean fairly deep underground bases.

You say you can't see what you would need money for. Ship expansions comes to mind, cattle, teleporters and maybe some of those nice biome machines. Mainly you dont need money at all though.

This was true in vanilla in a previous version of Starbound, as Moons used to be classified as tier 10 planets for the purposes of determining tenant rent and the power of weapons sold by merchants. However, this is no longer the case - Moons are now classified as tier 1 planets (same difficulty as Barren and "lush" planets).

Of course, there's at least one mod that restores Moons to tier 10 status...

I'd personally argue a good ocean planet is the best pick. The water tends to be vastly safer than land, enemy spawns are minimal for the most part, with only avian foes being a problem, and turrets make them VERY easy to deal with. Mild weather and minimalistic need to actually dig as well.

With drains, construction goes very fast.

They've been fixed, the moon bases have level 1

Just terraform the ♥♥♥♥ out of the world
The discussion might be so late, idc, and they don't have ♥♥♥♥ that we have today, but, now you know where you can build, i go for an underground + surface ocean biome, and a massive base + colony in a lush-barren place.
I use a mod called esylum worlds, it has a lush planet where it has no trees, but, it's mostly flat with a couple of mountains not so high up
I usually build a base on snowy planets, as the steam biome is fun, and the prism is straight up beautiful. also titanium is really useful :sbmm:

Personally I choose populated planets. With Citybound installed, these planets are more awesome than ever and they are always so peaceful too.
