Where exactly is the OpenGL version of the game?
Ok so the game has by far the highest crashing rate I've ever seen and I was already going for a refund when I heard that the OpenGL version is more stable. I want to give it a try but where the hell exactly can I launch the OpenGL version? I can only choose between Starbound 64/32, dedicated servers and mod updater tool when clicking the game on my library.

Before Starbound left early access you would be sent to a launcher upon launching the game which would allow you to choose between the "regular version" (likely using a form of DirectX (my guess is either DX 10 or 11)) and an OpenGL version aswell as a 64-bit version of each. As of the current version of the game that no longer seems to be the case and they've likely chosen to go with DirectX only.

I see, well thanks for the reply, I guess I'm going for a refund then. It's a shame because I really liked the game, but my homeworld got glitched and I can't beam down back to it no matter what.

I'm pretty sure they go with OpenGL only (to ease work on Linux and Mac OS)

It's hard to tell but indeed, I didn't even remember the launcher until it was mentioned. If the game is currently on DX version only then maybe it's no wonder there are many stability issues...

Edit: Not saying DX is bad, by the way. Some games just run better on OpenGL, though.

They probably only used OGL for the client designed to work on Linux and OSX-based GPCs.

Is there any known way to fix my issue though? The planet where I made my home is completely off-limits, crashes every single time I try to beam down to it, very annoying: http://imgur.com/a/ccMkV

I thought you were gonna refund. o.O

Otherwise, the best I can suggest is not showing us your error window but your crash logs located in your storage folder (Steamapps/common/Starbound/storage). The file named "Starbound".

Paste the content in a post and we will be able to find if you have any errors or bad stuff.

Unless the dev allow you to do so like with Vulkan and OpenGL 4.5 in Doom 3 (as of 1.5) no you can't.
