Most consistent way to get diamonds?
What's the best way to obtain diamonds? Does the planet have to say it 'has diamonds' ?

@OP, mining is the most efficient way, and the planet will not state whether or not it has Diamonds.

I've found that I get the most diamonds from trolling the surfaces of Snow planets (or Snow biomes on other types of planets), digging up suspicious patches of ice blocks and slush, and looking within the caves that they were concealing. The caves often contain diamond ore rocks which yield diamonds when broken.
