Good items to use as a repeater
So I'm getting into using wiring, and looking at the logic gates, I can't see anything that works as simply a repeater to extend ranges or make things tidier.

So far, I've used OR gates, but I was wondering if there's anything else viable? I figure doors and hatches would probably work as well, but those would harder to hide and look out of place.

What else have other people used for this purpose?

When you say 'door and hatches' do you mean you want them to be visable for people to see that they are there as your question is giving mixed signals in the second half.

If you want to hide blocks or make an entrance secretive just use; http://starbounder.org/Secret_Door

In terms of increasing the range of something I don't think there's anything in the game that's anywhere near that however I do remember this guide;
http://community.playstarbound.com/threads/guide-basic-wiring-guide.59852/
That guide will teach you what you can/can't do with certain things eg; XOR / AND switches.
If the information you need isn't there then I am sorry. But I do hope I've been somewhat of help.

edit: You could also try using sensors I guess eg; Liquid / Motion sensor. Or 0.5 Delay Gate.

You may want to consider getting the Macrochip mod. Adds a LOT more logic components, remote "wireless" components, the ability to contain an entire circuit in a single object, and more. As for a repeater, that may not be possible with the way the game engine chunk loads.

Thinking about it, and based on what I've observed during gameplay and working with wire objects, I'm pretty sure that objects too far apart for a single wire are too far apart to work properly even if you stick something between it. The other side won't update until you get closer.

A similar effect can be seen with dry farmland in the rain. Everything stays dry until it has been on screen for a while.

That guide about logic gates suggests using an OR gate with a single input, which is what I've been doing so far. There isn't a gate that takes one input and gives an identical output with no delay, so that seems as close as I can get.

Long range wiring isn't viable, but positioning of gates can help make things more readable.
