NPCs Falling In Love with You?

Noticed an Apex started following me around with hearts above their head, and wondering if I can make them part of my crew or something. Actually, is some sort of romance mechanic implemented yet?

No romance but if that NPC gives you a quest, there's a chance that he want to join your crew when you solve it.

I have had this 1 floran on my ship that regularly follows me around with heart particles. A few NPCs will occasionally do the romantic gushing, but this one floran does it almost all the time.

be happy it was an apex, i was in a swamp biome and one of the frog dudes there saw me and chased me out of the swamp, with allot of heards over his head.
