Fail one quest = angry NPC:s = killing spree
I really love the changes made to this game. It has turned out great! :)

But...

I have noticed something that must be a bug or something. If i fail one quest (do not know how i failed because it was not timed and i was on my way there, and this has happened to another quest as well) Alot of the NPC:s in the area gets crazy mad and wants to kill you. What is this? Is it a bug or shall they behave like this?

My final question: Is there any way to make friends with angry NPC:s or do i have to kill them? (Will towns repopulate?)

There should be a faction system with visible points for every faction on every planet so this kind of stuff does not happen...

I slaughter and bring hell upon those who get in my way anyway, so it wouldn't make a difference for me.

are you using mods?

i've never had a town go hostile to me for failing one of those quests.. hmmm! What race are the NPCs? Are you sure they were originally friendly? What quest was it specifically? One of those "rescue my friends"? Or "take care of the hostiles?" or something?

Did you have a crew member with you?

I never have crew members with me (mine suckes to much...). The towns people where friendly, giving me quests and so on. I am not using any mods. The NPC:s are one people living semi-underground. Seems primitive, nature folk (Floran i think), the other are a people with many eyes living in a Japanese setting (Hylotl i guess). I am playing as Novakid.

For example, lets devide the town into different parts (the towns are not divided like that).

1......2......3......4......5

If i fail a quest when i am in part 4 every person in that part becomes angry and those with weapons will try to kill me. The same race in the other parts of town are friendly as before.

Rescue my friend, escort, something with hear colour, and making a soda drink.

If the game continues like this i wont dare taking any more quests (making the game less fun, sadly).

This is why I made my own colonies. Angry tenant? Despawn 'em by taking out that deed.

Then again I've failed escort quests and haven't had any angry random villagers. It's a possible bug, knowing Chucklefish.

Yeah, this doesn't happen. The only way this would happen is if you steal items from the town infront of the villagers.

I steal items all the time, the only time anyone actually gets mad at me is if I remove building pieces and furniture. I really do wish you couldn't just loot everything right in front of people, it feels so unrealistic. I'll take like a dozen matter manipulators, and a thousand pixels from a crowded village and no one cares, but as soon as I uproot a single rice plant, everyone wants to kill me.

That's what I meant by stealing items, stealing from chests and things is fine apparently, lol.

Sometimes they even get angry when they destroy their own flower patches in combat with birds, or Jungle rain knocks down torches, or Ember Rain doing stuff. Any kind of object displacement works.

I missed while firing at an angry bird that was attacking me and hit a village elder or something, which made the entire planet want to give me a good round spanking, but that was my own fault for aiming too low with a rocket launcher.

However, other times I've done little more than kype some knickknack off a shelf and have them go full-on Rambo. I figure if they can't forgive my error in judgment, then I have no qualms whatsoever with scalping Sarah Miller and burning their village to the ground. Yay, diplomacy.

Starbound logic:

Take a really rare item that is worth a lot of pixels out of a chest in a colony right in front of everybody: Nobody bats an eye.

Smash an empty glass: "YOU DIRTY THIEF!"

I've also noticed that if you plant something in a colony and then harvest it later the citizens will get mad at you & say that you stole it.

It is saddening the game doesn't tell the difference between whether an environmental factor destroyed something or a player character did. It's stupid and I wish I didn't need to grab a mod to make wood and the like not be able to be burned. Hell, I avoid Scorched planets that have any form of meteors as part of its weather because I know what will happen if they were to strike a town while I'm around.

Well... that and me taking meteors to the face is very likely....
