will rice plants grow underwater?
I'm trying to find some water, my plan is to just drown my rice plants instead of watering them with a pale, I'm just wondering if this will work.

It won't. They will just revert to seeds.

You can't plant rice underwater, and dumping water on them unplants them.

If you want to automate your rice watering you can at Durasteel tier. A Foraging Table can be created at the Inventor's Table. The Foraging Table can be upgraded to an Agricultural Table, which has the option to craft Sprinklers for farming.

You can use sprinklers to water your farms or use Clay/Mud/Wet Dirt on your farm, since they automatically become wet when tilled.

You still have to water the plants after they've advanced one growth stage, though, so these materials merely make it so that you don't have to water the farmland after tilling.
