The only downfall to that, is that you don't have a choice of the two factions to play with. You're stuck with one or the other depending on how it's formatted.
Tried the other solutions posted elsewhere, none worked for me. I could find save files existing in the Conflict Desert Storm program folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\conflict_desert_storm), so I used SysInternals 'Process Monitor' to find out what directories it was actually trying to look in.
For me, they were:
- C:\Documents and Settings\twhit\My Documents\SCi\DesertStorm
- C:\Users\twhit\My Documents\SCi\DesertStorm
(My user folder was originally created as "twhit", but I've since changed it.)
I created the latter path & copied my saves in, can now see them.
So as he says the problem is the game wants to save and load your saved games from the "my documents" folder.
If like me you have moved this folder to another drive it then saves the files in the games install directory but still tries to look in the my documents to load them.
If you try to create a my documents folder in C:\users\yourusername
then it will asks you if you want to move your existing documents folder from you alternate location. If you are happy to do that go ahead. You then just need to create the 2 folders SCi and inside it DesertStorm and you saves should now go there and be loadable.
Alternatively in C:\users\yourusername create "documents" folder. Windows doesn't seem to mind this. Then create the 2 subfolders within it and the game should save and load there.
So short version try creating C:\users\yourusername\document\sci\desertstorm
and see if that now works.
