DARK SOULS™: Prepare To Die Edition

DARK SOULS™: Prepare To Die Edition

Zobrazit statistiky:
Why am I doing such pathetic damage?
To put it plainly, I'm doing 1-3 damage against absolutely everything following the first encounter with that asylum demon thing.

I can do decent damage against the few passive undead before I encounter the demon for the first time, but it takes me several minutes to kill a single enemy because I'm doing 1-3 damage a strike on everything after the demon.

Does anyone know what's going on? Did I miss something? Is this a bug? It's frustrating because this game looks like it could be a lot of fun, but I can't get anywhere because I can't kill anything, haha.

Please and thank you.

It's either an issue of your weapon or your stats. Probably your weapon.
Did you pick up a sword yet? Cause you start off with just a broken sword hilt which does next to no damage.
If I'm not mistaken, you get a sword as a "random" drop before the 2nd encounter with the demon...
You've probably still got the broken sword hilt that you start of with equiped.
...I can't tell if this is serious or not. If it is, equip a weapon. Surely you noticed you start the game with a broken sword, yes?
Yeh, I noticed that, but I was doing decent damage against everythig preceeding the demon... and I haven't gotten an opportunity to get a better weapon (I've combed back and forth from where I started to where I am right now several times to make sure), and I'm at a part with two melee / one ranged undead thing...

Do I just basically evade everything, then? Because that seems to be my only option at the moment...

Did anyone else have to do that? Haha.
You get your starting class real weapon in the corridor a bit after the first encounter with the Asylum Demon.
It's on a corpse in the middle of the hallway, you literally can't miss it.
Hmm, should it be glowing like the others? Mayhap I should look again.

If it's not glowing, it can be hard to see because this is a pretty darkly-lit game... not making excuses for myself, just trying to reason why I would miss that :(
yes all drop in the game is glowing white orb.
Steps from the beginning:
you start,
1st bonfire,
run from big demon,
2nd bonfire,
and then - corridor with bowmen at the end - in side room you get your class shield on corpse, and in the end of corridor, from where bowmen shoot you at first, you get your class weapon on corpse.
Interesting... I managed to get a dagger (I'm assuming because I am a Sorceror) from a body in the doorway where the archer undead was standing... but it wasn't glowing!

Perhaps just a minor glitch... I'm also having this small issue with my cursor constantly being on the screen, but I got around that by just using straight up keyboard for this game (which works better anyways).

Well, thank you for solving my issue, anyways. Everything is fine now; stuff dies quickly before my small blade!
If your cursor is on screen, download DSfix, it has a lot of nice tweaks. Higher Resolution rendering(not the crappy upscaling the game does otherwise) and disabling the mouse cursor.
If you have the money to spare, it's really worthwhile to play with a controller.
There's a doorway in the room the Asylum demon is in.
You have to run through there. Not take him head on with the broken sword. You come back and kill him in a minute or 2 after you get your sword and such.

Because you are pathetic.

Anywho, Is this the "first" time you've entered that room? (As in, entered from the door?) If so, go towards where the demon jumps down, and head left. There'll be a door through there.

You'll get a better weapon a few minutes later, just don't fight the demon with your broken sword.

I'm actually seriously considering this option. It's only around $20 to get a USB XBox 360 controller for Windows 7, and I have several games that I'm positive would play better on a controller (Assassin's Creed Series, Mount & Blade, Overlord, Prototype, just to name a few).

You won't ever catch me FPSing without my keyboard and mouse, though. If it requires me to aim to any degree, damn the controller! Haha.

Haha, no problem.
But if it wasn't glowing... that's a very strange glitch, never saw that happening before.

And as others pointed out, download DSfix, very easy to use and absolutely essential. Namco should hire the guy and include it in every download to be honest.
