Artorias knight - battle tips needed
I recently found this arm wonky slot machine, and needless to say he has beaten my ass into the ground the few times I have fought him. What I really need as some weapon tips. He is resistant to electricity and fire, so my pyromancing is useless (power within helps). I was using the princess of chaos' sword, though ti has fire effects. So now im using the lifehunt scythe, and its not helping a ton.

Thanks for the help.

He's weak to physical damage. If you can get a weapon to +15 or +14 as long as you don't get hit much, the fight should be a breeze.

Pick a weapon which you are specced for and upgrade to to +15, learn its moveset and get used to it. Before you face Artorias optimise your loadout in favor of weight (you want a fast roll) and poise. Go in there without a shield and two-hand your weapon, if you really do require a shield then I recommend the grass crest shield for this fight. Learn his moveset (he telegraphs all of his attacks very well) and learn how to counter them by coming up with your own tactics that fit your playstyle. You should usually be able to stagger him when he is trying to buff himself, and you can generally fit in a roll attack when dodging his multiple consecutive flip attacks.

A very easy fight when you know how to approach him.

You need a shield with a high stability and any decent damage dealing weapon (I used Greatshield of Artorias +5 (The irony should be apparent) and a Black Knight Sword +5).

Just hide behind the shield and take time to learn his attack routines. Once you've worked them out you'll see he leaves himself wide open after several moves allowing you to move in and strike before moving away again behind you shield. Rinse and repeat.

Artorias has a few attacks that make him vulnerable for a short time, his dash, his jump attack or maybe even between his other combos. I only used pyromancy when he channeled his shockwave attack. I also used a BK Greataxe + 5 and a Baldershield +14, I think the Greataxe got the best scaling of all the BK Weapons. I also executed my attacks while two-handing which gives a good amount of bonus damage for these heavier STR weapons.

If you want to make the fight a gamble use ironflesh pyromancy and pound away while two handing a big weapon. Almost beat him that way but its pure luck cause you cant dodge and sometimes Artorias moveset is really unpredictable.

oh and dodging is key unlike other fights. because if you block theres is not enough time tom strike back if you use heavier weapon. I guess parry is also an option.

High endurance, upgraded greatshield (Greatshield of Artorias doesn't need upgrade as it always has 88 stability), a weapon you're comfortable with, stay close. If you have a low damage weapon, get away when he does his dark charge up. If you have a strong weapon, you can stagger him before he finishes. I'm not positive, but I think he can stack his buff, so be careful. If he does get charged, it helps to stay close so he doesn't do his great flying flippy slash, which will likely break guard if buffed.

I jumped in full smough's for the physical damage reduction, picked up a demon's speak +5 and tanked him. Used havel's greatshield with stoneplate ring and favour and protection.

Quite simple really, block his attacks and poke him with your spear, making sure that you let your stam recharge every now and then (you do NOT want to be staggered). When he puts up his damage fire thing, pop iron flesh and carry on.

I was having trouble with him until I actually put some points into upgrading my shield. At 83 stability, I could block any of his attacks and still get a cheeky swipe in.

I personally prefer to tank him, less room for error. With decent stamina, or a good greatshield (Recommend greatshield of Artorias if you want to be ironic) and some stamina boosting gear, that ring from the greathollow, mask of the child, green herb if you have them. Just let him hit you for a bit until you have a chance to strike and nail him once (AND ONLY ONCE, do not try to stun lock him.) The fight will take awhile, but it will be more boring then actually dangerous.

Rolling works too, but miss one roll and you're in trouble, it can be very hard to heal against him since he attacks so fast, higher risk, but probably a lot more fun.

And if you have a knock down M2 attack like a zweihander or dragon tooth then charge him and nail him with it each time he starts his little charge up, it will make the fight immensely easier and will break the spell with 100% certainty by forcing him to stagger. Last time I fought him I used GoA and a chaos Zwiehander and took him down while watching TV in the other monitor. Not exactly much of a threat. :)
