Performance difference between 1280x720 and 1366x768?
Hello. I have a silly question, and since it's about this game I'm going to ask here. I searched about the net and haven't found much. I figure someone who has this game would give me a good answer.

The laptop I'm playing on has a native res of 1366x768, and the game runs fine on that res, but when there's lots of fire (torches and whatnot) on screen the framerate drops a bit (still smooth enough, probably 20 or 25 fps). I tried lowering it to 1280x720, and I didn't really notice a difference, but it may just be too small to notice.

Anyway, I was just wondering in general if, for this game (or any game), is the performance difference (specifically, framerate) between these two resolutions substantial enough to merit my choosing the lower one, or should I just stick with 1366x768? Will I actually get any real fps boost, or is it too small? I'm a bit picky with this stuff and it bothers me, so would like to know for certain. I'd like to have good frame rate (not that it's bad), but if it's not going to make a difference I'd rather have the slightly higher res. Does anyone have experience or good knowledge here? Thanks

Well there's people out there with brutal monster machines who also notices a framerate drop at bonfires (or other places with lots of particle effects) So there's not really a sign of a weak computer, it's more a sign of a poorly coded and optimized game.

its your screen resolution not the model's resolution which is rendered ingame.
try searching keyword : "dsfix dark souls" on google to understand further about this game.

I've tried benchmarking blighttown, certain angles will drop the fps big time, and I experienced the slowdown on all resolutions, with or without dsfix. The problem is v-sync, and if you use the latest dsfix to unlock the fps, then limit it to 30, you will have no slowdown whatsoever. (If you have NVIDIA, just force it off in control panel, I have ATI and it won't work this way)
the same frame rate drops are in the console version, so theres a good chance it's the game and not you PC

I'm gonna go with Paulius.. the game has some good slow down at times. Also find the patch right here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=488240

Without using DSFix there is no performance difference with the ingame resolution setting due to the fact that the internal render resolution of the game by default is 1024x720, with DSFix however you can change that to whatever you like, I personally have my native resolution as 1680x1050 and I have my internal resolution set to 1920x1200 which eliminates the need for anti-aliasing due to the higher pixel count.
