Can you do the dlc after you killed last boss?

Hey am soon at the end of the game, first playtrue, but my question is can i go do the dlc after i killed last boss? or do i need to go do it before

ones you kill Gwynn you automatic start a new game so if you want to try the DLC do it before

You can still go to the DLC after, but it will be in NG+. So, if you want to do the DLC in this playthrough do so before killing boss. Also, there is a tremendously good Humanity Farming area at the end of the DLC. You will know the enemy when you see it (hint: they look kinda like humanity). Thus it is worth it to do the DLC before begining NG+.

okay this brings me to my second question where is the dlc :p ? and how soon after bed of chaos is gwynn ?

the reference "bed of chaos" is relative. You can do things in different order. The main quest has you collecting 4 lord souls. Have you got them ALL? If so, then yeah gwyn is next. If not, then you need to find the remaining ones. Unfortunately OP, you may have boned yourself depending how far in the game you are.

DLC steps:

1: Kill Hydra in the Dark Root Basin. After he is dead, run to the far edge of the lake, you will find a little cave.

2: KIll the Golden golem in said cave. If he didnt appear either quit the game and re-load, or leave the area and come back. AFter the golem is dead, an NPC will be appear, talk to her etc...

3: After you do these first two steps, you can then continue the game as normal, until you reach The Dukes archives (this is where you might be boned, if you have already completed the archives, without doing the first 2 steps). At the top of the FIRST elevator in the archives there will be ANOTHER Golem, kill it, and you will recieve a pendant!

Note (I do believe that if you do not complete the first two steps before you kill the golem, you will be unable to do the DLC on that current play-through).

4: Now that you have the pendent you can now return to where you free'd Dusk (NPC in cave in Dark Root Basin) and there will be a strange portal at the back of the cave, when you inspect it, you get drawn into the cave, much like the painted world, and can then go on to do the DLC.

Key Notes: You must (from what I hear) Kill the Hydra and free Dusk BEFORE you do Dukes archives, otherwise the golem will not drop the pendent Needed.

Also, the DLC MUST be completed BEFORE you kill Gwyn, otherwise you will have to do it in your NG+ or with a different character.


Other than that, there is a kind of event that happens if you do the DLC BEFORE a certain point in the game, but I will not ruin it for you, for more information go to a dark souls wiki.

I just checked and you seem to still be able to access the dlc even if you have cleared The Dukes Archives,
I am on first play through.
I cleared The Dukes Archives including boss.
Already beat the Hydra
Killed Golden Golem near where the hydra was.
Talk to the woman who appears.
Went to Anor Lond bonfire,
Went to first bonfire after the Golden Foggate, reset at bonfire
Killed the crystal golem and he did drop the pendant. So I think it is good to go from there into the dlc before the finishing the main content.

ps. I know this is an old thread but I just came across this when I was trying to figure out how to get into the dlc. So for the new player it is A-ok. Just follow the steps above from space boat
