worth taking standard longsword +14 to +15?

before anyone hates on the standard longsword, its a phenominal weapon, by far the best weapon ive used to date. but is it worth eating a slab to take it to +15? these titanite slabs are very rare as you all know, and i just have the feeling i will be swapping weapons when i enter NG+.

so, it worth upgrading? if not, what should i change to?

Yes. You have a build ideal for it, it is a highly versatile weapon. If you prefer its moveset, by all means go for it. I will say however, that the balder side sword has more range and an extremely fast attack, so you might want to look into that weapon. (2 handed, it will tear apart bosses.)

There are a couple places to find slabs in game, and the darkwraiths in new londo ruins will drop slabs rarely as well. (10 humanity + covetous gold serpent ring for best farming. You will get lots of titanite chunks this way as well.)

If you take your int up to 15, you can also use great magic weapon. (Found in Anor Londo, after breaking the chandelier's chain. It will be guarded by the painting guardians below.) Combined with power within, you can dish out some excellent damage.

yeah ive farmed the hell out of the darkwraiths, enough to get my grass crest shield and all my elite knight armor to +9... then anor londo came along and next thing you know im in full orny and silver knight shield :p waste of time :p didnt find 1 slab in about 8 runs with max I.D.

i was thinking about the baller swag sword but im not sure if it would outdamage my longsword, or look as good with my current armor :p

im yet to get the slab from the stray demon though, i only have kalameet's from the waterfall, and i have no idea where metal michelin man has gone :/

Siegmeyer, if you helped him in anor londo and he left the firelink shrine, can be found below at the bottom of blighttown, way left of the bonfire near some roots and slugs. He will give you a shield if you supply him with Purple Moss. (poison cures).

and then i have to find him in lost izalith right? well the bed of chaos is dead as hell so im not sure if i can continue his quest line i also didnt help him in anor londo because he wasnt there

then you may need to go change the way the ball rolls in sen's fortress. see if he's still chillin off to the side of the first rolling ball trap. (near the shotel.)

longsword R2 is thrusting I believe, so if you have the leo ring it makes things die fast. :)

i think thats only on counters, what is a counter? is it when they rebound from your shield, or when they are mid attack or both?

counter is any time an enemy is attacking and you attack during their attack animation.

"To perform a counter, strike an opponent at the same time his attack would have hit you or IMMEDIATELY afterwards, before they recover from the "peak" of their attack animation." The wiki's a bit more detailed than I. :)

It's an okay spear, but cannot be buffed.

Isn't Balder Side Sword just a better version of the longsword? Im pretty sure it scales more with dex, has the same moveset, has much longer reach, and uses less stamina.

It is the best straight sword in the game, yes. Though with str dex builds, longsword will deal more damage. (40str/40dex = 408 on longsword. 399 on BSS.)
