I doublechecked and you shouldn't need very large ember, just the Large Ember.
Yes I realized after a brief, d'oh moment.
Gonna try that, but not sure. Let ya know.
Do it, because it will work.
You have to realize, only certain smiths can Ascend certain items.
Example: Giant Smith for Lightning acension
AFter that you or any smith can continue upgrading.
This guy is correct.
Once you get the Large ember from the depths, you can take it to Andrei, and ascend that +5 to +6 and then continue upgrading that to +10.
For added info, if you were just trying to take a normal weapon to +15, you would then need to get the Very Large Ember (its in New Londo) to ascend you weapon from +10 to +11.
Again, do not make the assumption that because one smith can do something, another can as well.
A good thing to do (maybe on additional playthroughs, not first) would be to go online and look at all the smiths, their locations, and what their speciality is.
You currently are just experiencing lack of knowledge. Game is working as intended.
You will love the lord vessel later on, for things such as this, its nice for jumping around to each vendor, and or blacksmith.
Well, it worked this time. It seems that it were some kind of glitch that fixed itself after i relauched the game. Thanks for your help guys!
Happy Hunting!
