Do I get anything for killing Kalameet?

I've fought him probably somewhere around 50 times. Solo, with one other person, and 75% of the time with 3 people. And we get absolutely destroyed everytime. Once we almost got him killed but then we couldn't manage to land a single hit for 5 minutes straight and died.

I'm utterly sick of fighting him and despite being level 79 with a +15 Balder Side Sword, can not manage to do over 150 damage per swing. That's hardly any of his health, considering he has several attacks that look exactly the same as another so it's nearly inevitable to be hit.

I just want to not fight him, seeing as I already beat Manus. I saw a corpse somewhat down the valley with something to pillage, but seeing as I can't manage to beat him I wonder if it's even worth it. I've ♥♥♥♥♥♥ the 3 corpses close to the ladder as well as the chest in the water fall.

Is there any reason to keep doing this?

He drops the Obsidian Greatsword if you somehow chop off his tail, other than that he drops the calamity ring which makes you take double damage. The cool thing is if you beat him go back to Hawkeye Gough and keep talking to him until he gives you his greatbow.

Pretty much summed up above. The ring he drops appears to be a way to make the game twice as hard, though there may be some purpose that's not yet been discovered. Oh you'll also get a neat sauron-eque flame eye over your head when you wear the ring(like The Kalameet's attack, just permanent).

Satisfaction is the reason to keep doing this!! Kalameer drops Calamity Ring (double the damage taken) and Obsidian GreatSword (cut off tail). I can help you to kill that bastard, try to get a Black Knight Halbert and upgrade it to +5 (you can farm twickling titanite by killing those stone golems in Oolacile forest), get the Dark Wood Grain Ring and Light Armor (there's no point in block his atacks, he will break you guard and his criticals are deadly). With the Dark Wood Grain Ring you should be able to dodge his atacks easy, the Black Knight Halbert +5 does tons of damage with 2 hands (better with high STR).

anyway his telekinetic attack was sooo cool, and besides that the ring seems pretty useless to me ._. and the corpse you didnt catch contain 3 gough arrows, he sell you those arrows anyway...

You are summing up your deaths to inevitablility. All of his abilities are dodgable. All of them. You just aren't paying enough attention to them.

You can cut off his tail for the Obsidian Greatsword. If you kill him you get the Calamity Ring, which makes you take double damage (trololo). However, if you defeat him you can also more easily reach the Titanite Slab that is in his arena behind one of the waterfalls. You can get this without killing him, of course, but then you'll have to put up with him spitting fire at you while you're trying to open the chest.

there is a chest in the nearby waterfall that has a titanite slab in it, you may want to grab that.
