what about black knight sword?
Loz ~ Oct 2, 2013 @ 6:56pm
Black Knight anything is usually very popular, every other PvPer has a BKGreatAxe.

Black knight stuff only takes twinkling titanite also, so it's easy to upgrade and doesn't use important materials for your normal weapons.

Yes.
Any weapon is worth upgrading if you want to use it.
You decide if you want to use it be judging on wether you like the move set or not.
If the move-set is JUST want you want and you feel it covers your every need, then that's the weapon for you.
I do not believe there is any weapon which is not worth upgrading, it all depends on what YOU like, and with what "theme" you build your character around.

TLDR version: If you like the weapon, then use it.

am I right in assessing that most of the weapons are pretty much the same in balanced damage and DPS? i have been experimeniting and have upgraded several weapons to +!0 and they all seem very similar.
if this is the case then i suppose it doesnt really matter, i should just pick one and go with it.

I did the halbed +10, the scyther +10 they do the same damage. uchikatana +!0, aido katana +10 are both very similar. I have black knight sword +5 and its the highest damage of all my weapons but much slower. I upped composite bow, long bow and pharis bow, still using composite bow.

I have shotel +!0 and zweihander and greataxe

the reason i asked about the giant halberd is because people seem to keep saying that weapons with the damage split in 2 attributes are not as good as weapons with it all pooled into 1 attribute, but then i see people on the net posting builds that use lightning ascended weapons.

one guy claims that lightning uchikatana is the best weapon

short bow, scimitar, dagger, ghost blade, morning star, spear, shortsword, mail breaker. All are outclassed in some way with no theme that you can really build around them unless the theme is bad weapon.

I did ghost blade +5 just to help me fight the ghosts

There is ALWAYS a theme you can build a class around, the Dagger for instance. It got it's perks over the "Bandit Knife". It's ligther, and it looks better for a particular build. For instance the Theif Knife looks MUCH more murderous than the Dagger. The dagger can be used to fit in a last weight slot or for a more civil approached theme character. I have a character that uses the Dagger as it's main weapon, and I've great success with it. Even in PvP, though I don't deny Theif Knife might be better (due to bleed), but it's not what I want.
Everyone got it's uses and the rest of the weapons you speak of are much easier to pick a theme for in my opinion.

It's much better to use transient curses. Allows you to block their attacks with your shield.

As for weapon damages, just look at the bonuses. Halberd will always do more than a great scythe in the end. Halberd has higher base and a D/C bonus while great scythe ends with an E/A. It's also the same reason why your composite does more. The other weapons will do more if you're not a quality. Meeting base STR for halberd with max DEX will make the great scythe stronger than the halberd. Your black knight sword is equivalent to a +15 due to it being a unique weapon. Higher base damage means better bonus from parameters.

Elementals will not do as much as normal. Like what you said, needs to go through 2 defenses. A lightning uchi might do something against a lighter player, but hit a giant user and it will only tickle. A lightning uchi is 225/225 vs a giants 440/281. A +15 is 420 vs 440. It's obvious which one will do more. You only go elemental if you can't take advantage of parameters.

I realize this, with +5 ghost blade i can kill a ghost in 2 hits thouhg, and you can't block their grab attack either way

If you use transient curse you can use whatever weapon you normally use. Your weapon can do more and hit more of them at once depending on weapon used. You can one shot them if you use your black knight sword and the wide arc will allow to kill more than one per swing.

I mostly use halberd and half the time, they float right over it...I admit i did not even have the black knight sword when i first went there, i went out of order i thought new londo was blighttown

Swinging weapons seem to work best on those ghosts. If done right, no ghosts should go over you unless it's the house where Ingward is on and that one when running to the house. I'll admit, I did go through there at the wrong time too only to be disappointed at the gate in the end.

Giant's Halberd doesn't seem to be that powerful at +5.
I was thinking about upgrading it, cos it looked cool, but I think all lightning weapons got ultra nerfed at some point, so meh.

It does nicely with my Giant's Armor set + shield tho :D
