How to access Huge Castle Door?

When you exit Blighttown and can enter the Valley of the Drakes, I turned right and crossed a bridge, and battled a dragon and smaller blue dragons. At the end of the patch is a huge castle door with a rope ladder, but it seems to go nowhere. What is this place?

they are locked and you need a key to the room with the locking mechanisim ..

the most important thing on that door is, that u dont forget to climb the tower to the right, cause there w8s a nice ring for u ;)

What about accessing the Darkroot Basin from here? I see on this map that I can access it, but all I see right now is a castle door with rubble where 'Leaver' should be:

I'm pretty stuck. Can't go through the Ruins because I don't have a cursed weapon. Can't go through the Demon's Ruins because I don't have the key yet from Sens Fortress. Don't want to climb all the way back out of Blighttown. So my only option is to go through the Darkroot Basin, if I can get there.

ok so u allready finished blighttown? u accesed the dragon valley via blighttown? the key to open the door that connects to new londo ruins/firelink shrine is in the area with the ladders that bring u to the dragon valley, should be an easy find if u backtrack to blighttown cause the treasure chest can be seen better when u come from the valley of drakes.
and have u killed queelag? the fire spider woman?

Darkroot basin entrance isn't beyond the large "castle" doors. It's actually near the opposite end of the stone bridge. Unsure if you need to activate it from Dark Root Basin first though.

Thanks, that may be my issue. Looks like my only option is to climb all the way back to the depths. MR.hyde, I can't go into the Londo Ruins because I don't have a weapon to kill the ghosts. Can I use the item gain when I killed the Grey Wolf to curse one of my weapons?

u dont need a cursed weapon, u can get urself cursed by a basilisk from the depth (not so cool)[images.sodahead.com] or u use the transient curse that u probably wear in ur backpack allready, if not u can find 2 transient curses by bashing the vase in the new londo ruins area where the first bridge is. and there is another vase where u fight the first 2 ghosts, the vase is near the stairs (a bit hidden) that lead to the next 2 ghosts and the house full of ghosts.
AAAAAND u can buy transient curse from the merchant in the sewers that connect firelink shrine and undead burg (after the closed door for the shortcut to the depths)

there is an item you can use which allows you to temporarily fight ghosts. you can buy it from a vendor.

also, there is a way out of Blight-town via Valley of Drakes which leads back to Firelink Shrine, and does not require you to fight any enemies >.< So not sure now you managed to miss that, but hey online maps OP.

He missed it because the land bridge is small has hell, litterally only 2 planks wide

When exiting Blight Town towards Drake Valley, instead of turning left and fighting several large fat dudes with clubs, turn right and discover a chest. Now fight through all the fat dudes with clubs and take the very first bridge you come across as you head towards Drake Valley and there should be a door there leading you to somewhere familiar.
